  1. Found DPY's Plugin Pack 8.1 http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/16643-dpys-plugin-pack-2014-05-04/?hl=dpyplugins8.1 One of the files has what I need. I'll check out the others you recommended. Had a fun time bringing it in. Had to disable Norton, and re-enable after unzipping. Still, the whole disk virus scan had no problem with it after installation.
  2. Thanx. Maybe I'm not asking for the right thing. My fault. Sorry. I'm looking for a tool that, if the edge of a building is bent due to fisheye effect of the lens, it will straighten it. In addition, if you want the building not to narrow so much toward the top, you can proportionally expand the image toward the top. Does the "straighten tool" do that?
  3. Oooh! SO useful! I wrote something like that in Mix® Power C, back in the 1980's. I like this one better.
  4. I see a straighten plug-in, but it's from 2009. Are old plug-ins safe to download to v4.0? These replace .DLL files. That's why I'm hesitating. What would be a good back-out plan? Added EOEffects.dll. Exploring. Some work easily, but I need some help with Quadrilateral Reshape.
  5. Just for grins, to get the "©" copyright symbol, make sure NumLock is On, hold down ALT, type 0169 on the numeric keypad, and release ALT. Won't work on the numbered keys across the top. That is a "blast from the past" and the old MS-DOS days! ® 0174 ° 0176 (degrees) ¢ 0162 ¿ 0191 ñ 0241 Ñ 0209 ™ 0153 Enjoy!
  6. Thank you. I didn't have any luck selecting for deletion in all my trials and errors. Nothing helped, not tolerance or anything else. If the reader has the same luck I did, my technique will work, reliably. As to the PNG, yes, it does that automatically, unless you tell it not to. Saw a watermark at my photography club that was a knockout. Highly stylized signature, in the center, in the same color as some of the background detail, bent to a vanishing point, it wasn't instantly recognizable as a watermark. It was THERE, but not visible, unless you knew to look for it. And because the color was eyedroppered, simple selection and deletion or healing was rendered more difficult. (but not impossible)
  7. I was playing with 4.0. It took a bit of experimenting, but here's what I arrived at. 1. File->New 2. Set color wheel primary and secondary to transparent, ZERO OPACITY. IMPORTANT! 3. Set Image Width 1 pixel. Height what you want. When you leave width, the background shrinks to a line. 4. Set Image Width to what you want. You now notice you have a transparent background. 5. Create your signature or logo using whatever satisfies you. 6. Save to a location you'll remember. You'll use this over and over. 7. With a clean Paint.NET, open your new signature file. 8. Move your signature from upper left to where you want it. 9. Layers->Import From File. Bring in your photo to be signed. 10. Layers->Properties, Mode->Overlay. OK. -done- Once 1-6 are done, you need do only 7-10 each time. AND, there's nothing to say you can't have multiple signature files. Oh yes, from back in "the day" of MS-DOS, to get the © symbol, ensure NumLock is on, hold down ALT, and, on your numeric keypad, type 0169, then release ALT. Then, press NumLock again to get your arrow keys back. Enjoy.
  8. I see on some images a little graphic, and a company name, usually on a lower corner of the photo. If you go on Ebay, most photos have a stylized camera on each. How is that done?
  9. I am presented with "an embarrassment of riches". My RAW format has the extension .NEF, and is Nikon based. Which would you recommend for me? RawLoad 1.0 Raw File - pebal RawLoader RawReader Another Raw Loader PNM File Type If any of these files have been corrected or updated, it may be a good idea to note in the comments. Many of the comments leave an impression that these don't work, and that there has been no correction to that. Leaning toward RawLoader. Bugs noted 2007. Have they been corrected? Tried to download it. "Page cannot be found." Oooorah! RawReader loaded just fine. A minor hiccough. WinRAR would not unzip it to my Paint.Net\File Types folder. No problem. I unzipped it to my Temp folder, then copy and pasted it in. Now, to try it. The JPG opens just fine. The .NEF opens only in DCDraw, with a strong green tint. It will not open in Paint.NET. "Unspecified Error." Deleting RawReader. Trying Raw File. Result: "SystemTypeLoadException: Could Not Load Type." Trying RawLoad is redirected to FastPictureViewer, and asks for money. So, I guess, the current answer to my question, unless I am totally wrong, is "no".
  10. Went there. Was the plugin compatibility problem ever worked out? 4 June 2013, extide said he was going to work on it. How did it go? What, in Paint.NET, can I do with RAW that I couldn't do with, say, a JPG? I know, in other programs, with RAW, you can adjust white balance and black levels. I don't know of any other, but would REALLY like to know. Can anyone point me to a discussion of this?
  11. I'm a newbie to processing. 18 August 2009, Axle said, "what are .raw files for???" The only things I have read that RAW is good for are changing white balance and black levels. I'm sure there are a ton more. I'm eagerly following this conversation to see about the RAW files reader plug-in. Once the plug-in brings the file in, what, besides those two, can Paint.NET do with the file that is not available in processing, say, a JPG? As I said, I'm a newbie to processing.
  12. For those seeking a "readme" reader, easy stuff! notepad.exe has been part of Windows since the 1980's. It will read/write text files, html, xml, bat, js, and a host of other text files. If it's a file that doesn't have a .txt extension, you must click "all files" in the "file open" dialog. Then, all will be visible. If the readme has an extension of .wri, or rtf, you could use wordpad.exe. Also bundled with Windows, for a long time. This lets the author imbed bold, italics, font changes, font sizes, and other effects. In fact, if you don't use OLE database and spreadsheet imbedding in your word processing files, it could be a very nice primary word processor. I have never, in all my life (I'm 66), owned an Apple product. I can't help you with what Apple uses for this. To invoke either, either double click its icon, invoke it from the "start" menu, or click "start", then type it in "search programs and files" and press enter. I hope this helps those who feel keyboard challenged. We all were there, once.
  13. The "standard" software handles camera RAW. As I, at my tyro level, understand it, this enables adjusting white balance, black levels, and other things I'm not experienced enough to know, yet. Does Paint.NET do RAW?
  14. I am learning Paint.NET, and reporting my successes/failures on Nikonians, a forum for Nikon users. I'll be asking a LOT of questions.
  15. v 3.5. Windows 7. Total tyro. I've tried experimenting with hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast, but they don't help a lot. Any suggestions?
