Cannot install 4.3.12, get an Unhandled exception "Strong name validation failed"

Good evening,

I have been running paint.net on my Windows 10 PC for a long time and the auto-update feature has always worked flawlessly, until 4.3.12 came out.  Now every time I open Paint.net and I am prompted to upgrade, the upgrade fails with an "Unhandled exception" saying "Strong name validation failed."  I finally tried uninstalling paint.net to do a fresh install but the fresh install gives the same error so now I don't have paint.net installed at all.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I do not want to disable the validation completely as many sites have suggested, and I have been unable to find anything for this error as it relates to paint.net specifically.

Thank you,

You may now have some clutter left, so please try this:

That looks like your .NET Framework installation is corrupt. You can probably fix this by running sfc /scannow at an administrator command prompt (a google search will be able to provide more comprehensive information if you need it).

Paint.NET itself uses .NET 6, not Framework, but the setup bootstrapper does need it.
