Drop down menu boxes scaled incorrectly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm running Windows 10, desktop scaling is 100% and as far as I can tell, I have all my Windows auto scaling options turned off.

I am trying to manipulate .dds texture files and save them in specific formats for game mods I develop, but I can't see the complete format

options in the drop down menus, as the boxes are not long enough to display the information.

Any help for a fix would be appreciated.

I use 2560x1440 for everything, it's the native resolution of my 32" monitor.

When I decrease the display resolution, the problem is exasperated.

The menu drop downs used to be fine, but it's been a year or so since I've done this type of work, and

I can't do anything productive until I get this sorted.

I tried uninstalling Paint.net, I deleted all the Windows registry items relating to PDN, re-installed after a reboot,

and the problem persists.

Actually, given the size of the text vs. the size of the form's icon (the save/disk icon), it looks like you've configured fonts to be larger. This will not work well with Paint.NET. You can find these settings in the Display settings, which you can reach by searching from Start with "Make text size bigger". You will want this to be at 100%, which is the lowest value.

All my Windows settings were fine, but I used a third party program to set font sizes for individual Windows elements

when I set up this OS, (like you could do in all previous Windows versions - don't know why MS changed this, it's endless drama to get fonts right now).

Thanks for reminding me Rick.

So I set everything back to default and this is how it looks below:

However, as you can see, the dialogue box is still too small to see all the options,

and the text is so tiny now.

Should I request a fix in the appropriate forum section?

There won't be a fix if the issue is that your font size scaling settings are non-standard. That's just not supported. Microsoft buried the setting because it really doesn't work well with a large number of apps.

"... the dialogue box is still too small to see all the options"

I can't tell from that screenshot because the drop down list is covering everything. But they definitely fit, so I don't know what you mean.

If text is too small for you, you should 1) reset all font size settings to normal, and then 2) increase the correct scaling setting in Display Settings.

Here's the complete list according to what I've got installed.

It doesn't seem to matter what I do, the result is always the same.

I'll just go back to using Photoshop, it was just convenient to do all my editing

in PDN.

Thanks for trying everyone.
