Fix this terrible bug ASAP!

Recommended Posts

HELP! I was saving a file for my Alternate Future of Europe episode but then I pressed 'Okay' on the image screen, it just said Finishing... with a green bar, and it just stayed there until I ended the task, making me go from the last .pdn file I had and having to redo the previous slide. This happened to me three times already, and I've gotten totally sick of it! Assuming it's a bug, please fix it so it never happens again! Additional info: I use a Windows 10 Dell PC, the file was 2928x1647, and the file was a PNG image.

It's possible you ran out of memory. I don't know much about this at all, so that's a total shot in the dark. Depending on your work the next time this happens, you can try using print-screen to recover some of it before you close Paint.net. Somebody with an understanding of this sort of topic will probably respond soon.

How did you specify the PNG format? Did you type it in OR did you choose from the drop-down list?

You're probably out of memory.

How many layers?

Let's work this out. The formula for memory overhead is (W x H x 4) x (L + 2)

W = 2928, H = 1647 and L = 9

2928 x 1647 x 4 x 11 = 212mb You should have enough memory unless there is something else using a load of memory elsewhere.

How many Apps have you got open? If you close them all except paint.net does the problem persist?

Well I have two Google Chromes open, I have 4 File Explorers open, FlagMaker, Skype, Discord, and sometimes Snipping Tool and Minecraft, don't forget paint.net. I haven't tried closing all the apps while using paint.net and getting it, though.

It sounds like your system is quite busy. Have a look with Resource Monitor ( press Windows +R, type Resmon.exe in the text box and press Enter) and see if there is a point where you're running out of memory or close to it.

That is also a very low performance CPU that probably can't handle what you're doing very well.
