Daikun Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 (edited) Microsoft recently announced that they're dropping support for .NET 4, 4.5, and 4.5.1 in order to focus on 4.6 and later. To my knowledge, Paint.NET doesn't support those versions. Will this affect PDN in any way (the end-of-life date is January 12), and will there be an update to support the latest .NET versions? Ego Eram Reputo Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Rick has been working on an update. Of course it requires extensive testing. Don't worry, he has this issue in hand. Rick Brewster Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Unless you're not installing .NET 4.6+ for some reason, this shouldn't really affect anything. 4.6 automatically installs and replaces 4 / 4.5 on most systems via Windows Update (I think it's a "Recommended" update), and is an "in-place" upgrade for 4 and 4.5. Apps that target 4 or 4.5 will automatically use 4.6 if that's what's installed, and you can't have 4, 4.5 or 4.6 installed at the same time (only one of them). And, as EER said, the next Paint.NET update will require .NET 4.6 anyway. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
