The theme this week is – Soda Can.

And has been chosen by – Helen.

This week you are invited to create a sig based on a soda can.

This Barrel tutorial by Skullbonz will help you with the basic shape.

(You are of course free to think outside of the box and create your own version of a can)

The deadline for entries is 9:00pm (UK Time) on Sunday August 18.
To see how that equates to other countries, here is a link to the World Time

    Competition rules.

    1. Max sig dimensions 500x200. Please NOTE: The forum limits signatures to 500x150, if it is too large do not try to use it as your sig.
    2. Please keep your sig family friendly.
    3. Keep to the theme that has been set.
    4. Modifying or replacing your sig is not permitted after submitting your entry.
    5. Don’t violate copyright laws with found images; links to source images would be courteous.
    6. Your entry must be made using paint.net, please don't use an outside image editor and try passing it off as PDN work.

The winner of the current SOTW gets to choose the subject for the next competition. Good luck all and thank you in advance for entering.

Thanks to - chrisco97, Sozo, TheHowler and Nitenurse79 for keeping this comp going in the past

This thread is for posting your entries only
If you want to talk about any of the entries, you can do so in the discussion thread found here..

  2. There is a way - Open the effects menu and position your cursor on the sub menu so it opens the list of plug ins in there, then use your up down arrows on your keyboard to select the effect you want, then press enter on your keyboard

Edit - When I say sub menu I mean something like Effects > Photo or Effects > Object etc...

  4. @ Welshblue - Cheers mate, I'm pretty pleased with the end result of the photo manip.

I have changed the sig slightly to add a little more shape to it. For the matal effect I used a gradient on a negation layer for each part and then colour balance to make some parts golden. I did play with blend modes on the overlap part, I think it looks better now.

@ Daniels - Cheers sir, got to admit I either use too little drop shadow or I go for overkill - I'm sure there is a happy balance, I just can't find it

@ Helen, Inspiration from one of the best is always a good thing ;) Thanks for your comment.

@dug - Many thanks for the visit and comment too, glad you like them.

@ Barbieq - Thank you, it took me a long time to make, but the result is worth it (I think)

Modified the sig slightly to make it less tube like. B)

  5. Thank you Barbieq, If a rat darted out I would be right up that ladder  I am pleased with the overall ambience of the finished product though.

Thanks Helen. It was one of those kind of views that begged to be captured. I only thought of adding the barrels after looking at the one doughty made.

New one on page #1 while I am here again ;)

  6. Thanks @ Sasha & Helen - It was an easy to follow tute and giving up great results too, glad you like :)

@ Skullbonz - Credit goes to you for the tute in the first place, top one. B)
I will go with the idea that the 'barrel' is 'small' in that image :|  The real reason was I couldn't be bothered to go back out side and take another picture of one of my walls from further back

  7. Modified.                                                                                        Original.

Completely inspired by Doughty's post. I duplicated the original image, used laplacian pyramid filter on it then on the upper image used TR's Line tracer plugin and set the layer to overlay and opacity on 70. Added the barrels from Skullbonz tut finished it off with a ladder, text and a little red paint on the nearest barrel.

Thanks for the inspiration. Cool image Welshblue, top work indeed mate B)
