WOTW 36 Discussion Thread Winners announced
mountnman replied to Possum Roadkill's topic in The Archives
best work around-- get rid of norton, download microsoft security essentials instead-- will get a message about not running it after you download-- but you dont want to run it anyway-- you want to copy it and paste it into the pdn effects file, so..... -
i always save a .pdn version as well as he giff/png image..this is why ---

Jpeg image edges being cut off
mountnman replied to aapowell's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
question= are they cut off when you reopen them in pdn or even windows live photo gallery--(windows 7 defualt pic viewer) or are they only being cut off when you load them to a website?-- for example, on facebook, you can use any size pic to upload as a profile pic, but it better be perfectly square or the facebook system will trim off the sides--- what im saying is- are you sure this is a PDN issue or could it be a website vs. size/ration issue? -

Need to know how to make pictures like this
mountnman replied to ayreignz's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
well in a way it is-- the answer is that PDN cant do that there was a time when i didnt know the different image types as well.. it wasnt until i wanted to try adding music on a roll-over to a sig that i had to learn about flash images-- lol back when i thought JPEG was the best there was and i guess at the time it was all that -
use Layer-Rotate/Zoom to increase the size of a single layeror you can use a selection tool then increase the size of the selection by manipulating the "handles" the little circles around the outside of the selection.. holding shift and left click on a corner handle will maintain aspect ratio while you increase size of the selection the zoom you are using only increases the onscreen appearance-- so you can see finer details

How do I make a matte image appear glossy?
mountnman replied to kstavert's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
i dont think theres a plugin but many tuts on making sheen/shine - these should give you a working idea how to acheive what you want http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12861-glass-ball/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12192-making-glass-buttons/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/15707-glossy-galaxy-ball-tutorial/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12244-glossy-avatarbutton/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/19175-polished-ceramics-colored-glass-text-effect/ -

if the steganography plugin doesnt do whjat you want.. and im in no way certain it will--- http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=4786 then the only way i would know how to do this is by making a flash image--with a rollover event but pdn cant do that.. you need adobe flash editor -
liquids & light reflection - stumped
mountnman replied to Achilleas7's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
to post a pic, you need to host it on a site such as mediafire or photo bucket, and then post the IMG code.. remember images should be no larger than 600x800- if it is larger the post either a clickable thumbnail img code or a link -
hey, most of us here are quite willing to help, but we need a bit more info on what you need help with-- the example you posted (aside from being overlarge for our forums) is quite dark, and its hard to tell where you might need advice--it would be better to post the picture itself, instead of a picture of the picture.. if that makes any sense. also we dont know where sarkut left off and where we should start, so a description of the exact problem you are working on now is needed-- take it step by step, once we solve one issue we will then deal with the next. looks like youve got the basics down, so what is it you need help with. and dont worry aboutit if it takes a thousand words to describe what you want, as long as we have a clear idea of it

How to create an "etched in" effect?
mountnman replied to Kayreeed Caliburn's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
ummm can you post an example?-- if you wanted tattoo like effects i would sudgest apha displacement...somethinglike this http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21508-contouring-text-to-the-background/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22313-alpha-mask-plugin-did-i-download-the-right-one/ however- first doing that then duplicating thew arm layer. merging the text into the top arm, using hi pass maybe-- http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22239-having-trouble-finding-photoshops-high-pass-effect-in-pdn/page__view__findpost__p__356738__hl__hi pass__fromsearch__1 -
what gets me is that the bottom two parts are sharper than the rest.... anyway, im going to try to recreate the problem-- im working at twice the size then will scale down--- working at the orriginal size shouldnt have caused any bad blur, just jaggedness at most i cannot recreate the blurriness without deliberately adding a blur effect on two seperate layers- somebody with more technical expertise will have to help you.. sorry as a LAST resort, you could send me a pm with the information to finish this out, i cant read the show dates well enough, nor do i know the font of the center A or what the design behind it is supposed to be
-
post the pic here so we can see what your talking about pls... you will need to host it on photobucket or such and paste in a link one thing.. you didnt design it small and then enlarge it to fit did you? that would be backwards to what you need to do

and i thought it was.. "If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer for the rest of his life."

when you hit the button to add a layer, in the layer window, the layer added is automaticaly transparent. when adding text to thyis layer, the words will be visible. do not confuse transparent with hidden/invisible transparent means there is nothing added to the layer and you can see thru it, hidden(when you have unchecked the visibility box) means you cant see the layer at all as far as the multicolour gradient-he mentioned it but didnt provide instructions- i guess becuase you dont have to use it--- anyway, once your text is on a transparent layer, using the magic wand tool set to 0 tollerance, hold shift and select anywhere outside your text, the press Ctrl-I , which will invert your selection, run the gradient, after which you will need to hit Ctrl-d or hit enter, to deselect

i believe Jumble is what you would need-- it takes a picture, cuts it into blocks(you choose the size) and randomly Jumbles them up http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8043-curtis-plugin-pack-update-for-354/page__view__findpost__p__348927__hl__jumble__fromsearch__1

you mean putting the same photo side by side? easy enough- open the image, hit CTRL-A(select all), CTRL-C(copy) CTRL-D (deselect), go to Image/ Canvas size, set the anchor for the right, double the width of the canvas, press CTRL-V(paste), the image will be pasted in selected and with the move selected pixel tool active. use either the arrow keys, or the mouse to move the pasted in pic to the blank section

editting a post, like you just did, is the only way for a regular member to get rid of something they said-- if a mod feels the need they can remove a post
