ptuZ, your colors are too bright and is that an autostereogram?
Siddek, the sig itself is pretty good, but the text is not.

Colors: 3/17 - Too bright!!!
Text: 8/17 - Albeit having no flow, it calms my eyes down a little.
Texture/Fractal: 9/13 - Hmmm, bright and repetitive, no thanks. Still an OK texture.
Border: 5/13 - This calls for a border of some sort.
Composition: 15/30 - "Overall not a bad sig, but could use a bit more fillers and better text" - that and the colors!
Flair: 2/10 - Nothing especially special...
Total: 42/100

Colors: 14/17 (+11) - "I really [like] the color scheme, it sticks to one general palette and looks great with the sig overall..."
Text: 5/17 (-3) - The same text again!? Well in this case it doesn't fit, maybe run a Sepia on it or something...
Texture/Fractal: 9/13 (E) - Seems just a bit flat, but not bad.
Border: 8/13 (+3) - "Just a simple plain black border about 3px wide, not much flair there but it does it's job well..."
Composition: 22/30 (+7) - The text!!! It burns!!! Otherwise, not a bad sig.
Flair: 4/10 (+2) - Quite a monotonous color scheme and the bright text kills it.
Total: 62/100

I tend to make 1900x1200 and crop out unnecessary parts for the most common screen res's, like they do in webpages, the central 600px have the most important graphics, text, etc. Then the next 200 have less important, etc.

No problem, also hit Ctrl-Shift-M to merge layer down and you can save as a jpg or png.

Okay, after placing the image on the background layer, make a new layer (as you said). Go to the Paint Bucket tool and fill it with white (255, 255, 255 or FFFFFF). Double-click your layer and set its opacity to 153 (60% of 255 - 255 is the most opaque). Click OK.
