It works for me. Don't know why it won't for you. Do you mean that you want the words to form vertically?

Just click to place the cursor where you want it, and press Enter. Paint.NET doesn't have any real word processing type of functions.

Re: the Humanism image taking a bite out of the donut, paste the Humanism symbol into a new layer above donut layer, then merge it down into the donut layer. That should eliminate the problem.

Make a re-sized copy of each picture individually. In the top menu: Image > Resize... Save As... PNG. Next, open a new file and expand the canvas so that there will be enough room to fit all of your resized pictures and borders. Image > Canvas Size... Import each of your resized pictures one at a time and position it with the Move Selected Pixels tool. Layers > Import From File...

It would probably take about twenty minutes to do another similar picture. This one took longer due to some trial and error of working out how best to do it. Didn't time it though. When I tried using Unfocus instead of Gaussian, it produced a darkening effect that I didn't like in the area where the hole was being filled in. The final blurring with Unfocus made the background look better overall than doing an equivalent amount of blurring with Gaussian only.

For my tastes some of the smudging in Mayor's detracts. Ai7's is nice, but I like the remaining two better. They are quite different in style, both have their appeal. My vote goes to Chrisco97. SCORES: 5-2-1-0 Chrisco97 Csm725 Ai7 MMS

I probably have misunderstood what you're meaning to do.

You can soften the edges of the cut -out with the Feather Object plugin.

The Outline Selection plugin will add pixels at the border of the selection in a controlled way.

Would it work to use Outline Selection on a circular selection? (Ellipse Selection used with Shift key down)

There is the Grid Maker plugin: Apply it to a new (transparent) layer with a checkmark next to Foreground only. Keep it positioned as top layer, and work only on lower layers.

You can use one of these tools.

Here's what I got. What was done here was to: Use the Lasso Select tool in Add(union) mode, select the blossoms and cut, paste into a new layer. Do the same to the stem sections. You should now have three layers. Blossoms on top, stems in the middle, and on the bottom the original with a big hole in it. Apply Feather Object at a radius of 4 to each layer. Apply AA's Assistant at default to the top layer. ========================================== In the Layers window, remove the checkmarks from the upper two layers, and click on the bottom layer. ========================================== Effects > Distort > Frosted Glass Settings: 12.00 0.00 8 Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur @ radius of 12 Adjustments > Transparency @100 Opacity ======= Repeat the three steps above twice more to begin blurring the background while healing the hole. For additional blurring of the background use Unfocus blur. ========================================== The stem layer can be blurred using Gaussian Blur. ========================================== The blossoms can be blurred selectively with the Smudge plugin. Use a soft brush, size 60 and/or larger, strength around 35. Position the brush, go mouse-button down, and jiggle slightly in place. The more jiggling, the more blur. =================================== Feather Object and Transparency are plugins in the BoltBait pack. AA's Assistant is in the dpy plugin pack. Smudge is in the pyrochild pack.

You could try this: Open Paint.NET. On the keyboard press: Ctrl + A Delete Next: Image > Canvas Size Change it to 2560x1280 Add whatever you want as a map. Save As... TGA See if it works.

Paint.NET doesn't have a channels function in the way that Photoshop does.

For a balloon-like oblong, use the Ellipse tool with Shift key held down to make a circular shape. Bisect it with a rectangular selection. Pull the bottom-center adjusting nub down with the Move Selected Pixels tool. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/7380/balloon01aa.png
