  1. thanks ash , i drew some cartoon characters the other day on PDN and i used the line tool!!!! lol i even used layers!!! , for the coloring and the background im going to use effects. maybe ill try to do the faces with shape 3D
  2. any one have suggestions on the best way to do the voting for this contest? would a poll be the best way?
  3. Thanks oma, maybe ill try to use PDNs effects this week like you suggested, im making some cartoon characters maybe ill use the effects for that. Ash that actually does look really good, I think you and oma are right that i just need to start thinking PDN and not MS paint, its a bad habit i need to break
  4. basically put one image down, then click new layer and put the other down, then go to layer properties, and mess with the opacity and the blending modes till you get what your looking for. Welcome! and good luck! Kevin
  5. well.... this didnt turn out quite like i wanted lol, the shape of the face was good, and the features where good, but i drew them separately, when i went to wrap the details on the face, i realized my mistake lol, if you give it a quick glance then look away it looks great lol ^^well its not terrible, its 100% free hand, the shading was supposed to look like pencil shading i used frosted glass noise and jitter to get that effect. Leme know what you think, this is one im gona redraw at some point.
  6. i havent done a realistic portrait in a while, D.C. , inspired me to do one, last time i did this realistic of a portrait i used MS paint, using basically the air brush tool and the pencil, PDN is definitely easier to use for this purpose, where i would use the air brush for shading on MS paint, i have been using noise and frosted glass or jitter. Im trying to get the shading right on the left eye before i do the right, i think im close, what do you think?
  7. just a reminder the contest ends on the 24th your entry must be in before the 25th, so any time before midnight on the 24th you can enter
  8. okay david, this is just how i draw portraits on PDN, i noticed there were a decent amount of portraits being posted recently in the pictorium so i thought maybe i would share the way i did mine, but i do understand wat your saying, its more pixel art with a few effects for shading lol
  9. sounds good, the method im using really is for pen and paper, i learned it in an art class, and developed it for PDN, i posted part of it in the pictorium. Thanks for the advice! Kevin
  10. First of all, im not sure if this is the right section of the forum for this, im sorry if it isnt. Any way, i use PDN a lot for creating portraits, i was thinking of creating a tut on how to create a portrait using PDN, do you guys think this would be a useful tut?
  11. i have a .pdf of how to draw a portrait, it goes into detail on how to draw eyes, noses, etc. D.C. is working on a portrait and i wanted to send it to him.
  12. I want to send a .pdf, can i attach that into a message i compose here on the forums? or do i have to send it through email or something? edit: please leme no if im not clear.
  13. *check your pm D.C. (Conviction can i attach a .pdf on here? D.C., Here's wat a realistic eye should look like, the eye tut using shape 3D is a cool way to do it, but personally i think it looks kinda cheesey. the method above^^ is what i use on portraits, it looks more real. ill post the steps to making this eye, its fairly simple. alright here we go, *the first couple steps are for the perspective Step 1 Just draw a circle, hold shift while you do it. *Note its easier to do the circle, then draw the square on a separate layer and adjust it so it fits. Step 2 Then draw a square around it Step 3 Draw a half moon Step 4 Color the right half of the moon in, this will add contrast Step 5 Draw the eye in, the steps above should make this much easier, make sure to draw the slit in the right corner of the eye Thats pretty much it, i shaded my eye in, you can look at the image i posted originally for a final example. there is an extension of this, i would show how to draw the nose and the mouth and how to make the eyes look more like eyes, if this interests any one leme no, id be happy to make a tut, just didnt want to take up a ton of space in the pictorium
  14. not bad dc, it looks really blurry though, did you resize it? edit: dc i have a .pdf of basically how to draw realistic looking people, if you want it, i can send it to you. edit again: your eyes could use some work, this is really for pen/paper drawing, but it can be used for graphic design.
  15. Im trying to draw a castle, the thing is its only a background piece, i like wat ive done so far but it will take forever....i wouldnt mind taking my time if it was the main focus, but its in the background, any one have any tips on how i can draw a good looking castle that woulnt take 6 hours to draw? Thanks Kevin edit: ah, sorry i double posted
  16. That looks awesome, you could probably turn that into a pretty cool sig or something
  17. Here's one i did today, im gona try to expand the background a little, maybe add a castle and a dragon in the background, i just kinda filled in the empty space with some clouds and grass. Leme know what you think! THanks KEvin
  18. still good, i drew this dragon about a week ago i think i posted it, but thats why i asked lol.
  19. any better oma? i added another shade of brown to the shadow, and changed the background to a dark blue
  20. good how about a bit more contrast between the face and background and maybe just one more shade for the face would give a bit more depth. generally warm skin tones of the brown/reddish brown look best against cool colorbackgrounds makes them really pop! thanks oma , ill give that a try, i really just colored it in, in about 5 mins lol. You didnt draw that dragon, did you?
  21. I finished my not so invisible friend ^^^ cartoons are fun to draw
  22. sorry about the multi posting, i need to work on that haha, i usually make a new post when its a different topic, or a different day... just a reminder the contest ends on the 24th your entry must be in before the 25th, so any time before midnight on the 24th you can enter
  23. Okay david, thank you. My only question is will it get locked if i bring it back to life? for instance if it gets bumped down to say the third page and i bring it back up to the first page?
  24. R3VENGE, thanks for the entry, looking good, gradients are allowed, feel free to edit your drawing if you want, for now ill post it as an entry.
