  1. very cool, my avatar was free handed without a pic edit: im kinda in the tut making mood lol, what do you guys think about creating a basic art tut. it would teach basically that every image is made out of shapes, every shape is made out of lines, and every line is made out of pixels. i know its a simple thing that most people with even a little art talent or even common sense can pick out but its always over looked, maybe it would even expand into more of how to draw 3D shapes and etc. Here's a word document of the beging of what this might look like. *sorry its big* Basic Art Tut The purpose of this tut is to really go over the very basics of how to draw a picture and what a picture is made up of. Although the concept of this tut is very easy to grasp, this is a thing maybe people over look. Instead of trying to figure it out by thinking they just get overwhelmed and quit. We are going to start with one of my philosophies. -Every picture is made up of shapes, which are made up of lines, which are made up of pixels. Let’s break this down For the sake of making the most sense we’ll break this down out of order. Every line is made up of pixels connected to each other. Here is a pixel. The bigger square on the left is basically a blown up pixel, because if you look closely you can see a dot to the right of it, that’s what a pixel actually is. Technically that bigger dot is made of about 15-20 pixels. Now like I said lines are just connected pixels, the different color shows where on pixel starts and another ends. Once again these pixels are blow up, because they are nearly impossible to see on there own. Luckily with modern technology pixel art is much easier and realistic then it used to be. Old technology would take 45 mins to make this. With new technology in about 2 hours I can create this. Big difference eh? Every picture is made of shapes. Before I explain let me show you an example. This is a portrait picture I drew on PDN, not one of my bests or even a complete works for that matter, but it portrays this well. Here we have a simple face; this may or may not look over whelming, but let me show you a little trick. This is all this picture is made up of, most people can draw these simple shapes. With a little practice you can learn to modify them to make a more complex image.
  2. ah, could you put a shape 3D on that to make it 3D? thatd be exactly what i was thinking
  3. Note the 'hasty' part of that. You're right though... I should fix that... eventually >_> Something like this? I've been working on making coins out of pictures. lol I think my idea's good, I just need to work on the particulars. well you might wana get on that, i have no idea how that fish tank is staying on that table lol thats cool, but wasnt exactly what i was thinking, heres wat i was thinking http://www.partiesoutsidethebox.com/Images-award/star-award-trophy-invite-3.jpg something like that, the design atleast
  4. Very nice. Try using Clouds, noise+motion blur, or gradients for added texture. --- Here's a hasty attempt at making a fish tank... complete with a little fishy! wither i have one complaint, the table legs at that angle create enough of a slope that the fish tank would fall off the table lol edit: so i got bored and made this, i already posted it, but i wanted to know if someone could help me turn this award into looking more like a trophy or something iono, i imagine its possible its just beyond my render skills right now, anyone have any suggestions on what to do? http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj66/ihclub_hockey/CRYBABY.jpg edit again:(wow am i the only one on tonight?) im working on this pic trying to get the texture down, im having a hard time, im getting close but it seems like im missing something, any one know what it needs? also there pixels left around the edge, is there a plug-in i can run to get rid of those?
  5. ^^^ agreed but no worries, you just won an award ^^ just super stoked about that idea lol ill have to finish it
  6. next time make your title more specific please. I just posted to make basic shapes in the pictorium, using the cube you should be able to do this pretty easily, if you want it looking more realistic ther are a couple guys on these forums that are amazing at creating glass, if not itd be quite simple to color with some texture and shading. I would suggest trying to draw the shape first, check out my post on the pictorium if your not sure how to do this.
  7. lol not a problem, i wanted to make sure i didnt mess up lol edit: btw im digging your entry
  8. Here's a more basic tut iono if this is helpful or not, its how i look at things. Everyone knows how to draw a simple square or circle, but how can we make it pop out and look realistic? This tut is created to expand your mind into looking more complex objects as a bunch of simpler objects. How can we make this go to this? This is a very basic example turning a circle, into a tennis ball. With contour lines you can turn a circle into a ball or a square into a cube. Here ill show you how to turn a square into a cube another basic art technique that some may not have learned. PDN's layer system makes this extremely simple. It will just be a picture walk through. Dupe and Move the layer. Connect the dots There you have a cube. Here's something a cube can make. Here's you can draw a cylinder. Now the cylinder expanded on. This tut could go on forever, but ill leave it at this for now. I'm sorry about the images, all of them were drawn very quickly, if its a hit ill go back and fix them
  9. thanks salu , wat do you think about turning it into a tut? do you think its to specific?
  10. what are you alls thoughts about creating more drawing tuts? i mean instead of here is how you create a face with shape 3D, something like how to hand draw a portrait. although similar topics the concept is the opposite, ive been on photoshop forums where ive seem similar tuts, since this is my drawing style id love to make some as well as try some others have made, i posted a sample in the pictorium. any thoughts about the idea of more drawing based tuts? edit: any thoughts?
  11. As requested by bugster ill make a little drawing tut on how to draw my zombie face, its pretty easy but ill break it down. Let me know what you think (about the tut not the drawing itself) Estimated time: 20-30 minutes First you want to start with the basic shape of the head. This can be achieved simply by using the line tool. I used a 2 pixel black outline. Remember through out this tut that all drawings come from basic shapes, cylinders, circles, rhombus, pyramids. Drawings are just modified shapes, no matter how complex the drawing it's made of shapes. *this is just a rough outline of the shape of the head, well edit it to make it more complex later on. Now we are going to refine the head, this is really pretty simple, remember when drawing this picture to make it you own, it doesn't have to match up with mine. Here's wat i did, once again i used a 2 pixel black, and the line tool. Now the fun part, we're going to start adding details, when it comes to details its really up to you, ill just show what i drew and walk you threw that. Well start with the eyes, for mind i did one wide open and one half closed. Remember an eye is basically a modified oval. To help you break it down ill do the lines in different colors. Every different color was a new line. *note i added the eye brawl as well. Next im going to draw the nose. The basic shape is a triangle. Remember you dont have to draw every line because when you color it you will be able to see wat you didnt out line, for instance the right side of the nose was all i outlined. Dont forget the nostrils. Believe it or not were almost done! Next is the mouth if you look at the mouth its really just like two ovals with the sides erased. *i just drew a few teeth because he is a zombie, so might as well make him look like one I drew a couple extra lines in to add some wrinkles, nothing major. honestly after this step you could call it done, but i added some hair on mine, basically just squiggles that radiate down from the sides of the head. That'll about do ya, enjoy! Heres my final product ( i know i posted it before, but it goes with the little tut ) depending on what you guys think maybe ill do some others similar to this, remember itd be a favor to you not me so dont be afraid to tell me if you dont like it edit: i think maybe ill try to create a tut that shows the basic or basics for example turning a square into a cube.
  12. iono what i was thinking lol, got bored or what i was working on, maybe ill color this and make it look good later lol. well have to find a couple candidates for this award
  13. o wow did i make a mistake on the deadline? o no....lol.... its supposed to be January 24th...
  14. just remember today and tomorrow are the last days you can submit an entry. the voting will then start the 25th. you get two votes a piece, you must vote for two images(first and second favorites). you may not vote for yourself. if the voting rules are broken the votes simply won't count. Pm your votes to me (k.digennaro) Thanks Kevin
  15. well every colored image is made of colors. duh....lol. the color stripped could strip say the white first, then the blue, etc. till it was just the black lines.
  16. haha, sorry bout that, typo, i no its bugster i think spell check corrected it, couldnt you just trip the colors individually? sorry off topic. any way its looking good.
  17. that looks good buster, i just posted asking if some one could come up with a line outline plug-in, thats wat that looks similar too. good job, did you just use strip color and contrast/brightness?
  18. id love to do that, but it would be a huge tut, cus itd basically be a break down of the drawing and how to recreate it, maybe ill make it and post in here first and see what you guys think d.c. looking really good, happy to not see the back of his shiny head he was looking like a monk before lol edit :...oops i did it again...double posted....sorry
  19. wat!? most of my art it pixel drawing ^^^all pixel works
  20. that was the point of the thread to create a plug-in that could do this for you, line tracing doesnt take terribly long, its just annoying.
