  1. OMFG! - I freakin lol'd.... Ahahaha -- thanks for that awesome comment. [sarcasm] I should rename my gallery that just for the occasion... [\sarcasm] Oh -and cool new spidy sig Lego!
  2. Thanks -- heh - wispy and crumpled sheet -- I like your guys' interpretations Thanks for the quick response. I dunno why, but when I made it it just reminded me of summer time - which is weird, because normally I associate summer time with bold colors like yellow or gold - with strong greens - and this is a very light blue on a white background... EDIT: Grammar fixes
  3. Sorry for the double post, here's a new wallpaper I made: Click for larger view -- tell me what you think of it!
  4. Well it looks sweet, and I think it'd pretty innovative to these forums. I'ma try the link out for the tut you posted soon - I wanna give it a try myself.
  5. Hey - thanks a lot man - you're getting really good yourself - (your gold text still blows my mind)
  6. How so? Here's something fun: futurama's funny I thought you would have used motion blurs for the 'depth' layer, instead of just using different colors of the same layer. That's just judging by the way you rendered the 3D text in your tutorials. I dunno - you kept things simple, and i was thinking it out more complicated than it needd to be
  7. Most of the time, when I make my planets, I don't use any lighting in shape 3D. I make it all on my own, by duplicating the planet layer, making it black, blurring, and then using transparency gradients- it makes me feel like I have more control. I dunno, it might be something you want to think about (unless you're rendering a very complex shape).
  8. Very cool icon! I would have expected a different method of making it - but I like what you did -- nice and clean, very cool!
  9. Ok then, I take it you just wanted general tips. I'm not very experienced, so if you want to get really good - there is the new tut "10 healthy habits of a PDn artist". This can be very useful for general knowledge (I even found some good stuff ) Other than that -- follow the tuts (which you already know), and experiment on your own. But generally, all you're going to have to do is a post a pic in here, and I'm sure lots of people are going to be glad to ive feedback.
  10. If your pool border is on it's own layer, as a border (it isn't filled in where the water is), then you can duplicate, motion blur the layer underneath, and it'll give you much more depth to the pool -- the blur layer should be duplicated and merged repeatedly, so that the lines aren't too solid, but good enough to see that it's there. I dunno if I made sense, I can show you an example if you send me the PDN.
  11. Very nice -- bag --! You did an awesome job on the tree too -- besides just the leaves - I think the actual tree bark and base is really well done!!
  12. Excellent -- really great job on that!! And.. uh - I'd posted this pic from a PSD tut conversion before he even joined.
  13. I agree with J2K -- it's harder to come up with funny sayings or spoofs if it's just based on PDN...
  14. Holy -- dang - that is REALLY good text you have going on there my friend... Amazing job! You did great on the highlights and everything. The only thing you might want to pay attention to is the fact that it's a tad blurry. Just a little bit. Great job otherwise - you need to make a HUGE version of it! (I love rediculously big pics)
  15. Using the plugin "Conditional hue and saturation" is even easier to work with. I personally mess with curves, (when I'm not being lazy) because messing with hue/sat kind of messes with the color tones - makes them look like a low quality picture sometimes. Another thing to do would be to make a new layer, color it all the color you want the car to be, and then mess with those blend modes until you get a good result. (Overlay works well most of the time). this version does have a drawback, however, because it colors the entire picture, not just the car specifically.
  16. I think this is all just really a great idea - and in my honest opinion - I doubt wearing these shirts will infringe on my rep. I mean, this is a computer graphics software -- you don't have to be a geek to get into it (I don't consider myself a geek). It's great for making movies and awesome promotional pictures that are seen throughout school. Everytime I finish up a movie, or browse through my favorites (I show you guys off to my friends)- people are always amazed - they take this as a good thing. I dunno, maybe it's just society where I'm at, but everyone is always amazed at what computer graphics can do (not necessarily just in PDN - I mean also with professional films and such) - and they judge the artists in a positive way. I really want to get a PDN something, but for the moment I am short on funds.
  17. You asked for tips -- what do you mean by 'concept' art necessarily -- do you mean to develop a theme for yourself -- or along the lines of thing such as 'concept car'. Where are you trying to go with PDN right now? Do you want to set yourself aside as a theme -- like The Void or Darckshock with their sigs, or CMD with his stick figures -- Please elaborate, and I'd be glad to help! EDIT: I like your new sig/av combo -- looks very techie, and I like the variation in color (I would have probably made it a one color - but i like yours more). Cool style
  18. Very cool -- though I suggest users use the alpha mask plugin (or the alpha mask version of the displacement plugin - when cutting out the flag, or whatever it is. (In this case a rectangle, so not too bad, but if it were a different shape - definite jagged edges would show up after displacement). Cool effect - and I hadn't thought of enlarging the canvas like that--- 8) Nab
  19. Hehe - good concept, I like it. Your scan line sig looks better - -good job!
  20. hehe... magnifying glass... funny funny
  21. Good use of polar inversion too -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Well I was messing with clouds, trying to find new effects - when this happened -- anyways - I made it into a wallpaper. Click for 1280x1024 Enjoy
  22. Ooh -- while on topic -- what about canvas size? If I ever start to make something serious in PDN (not just trying an effect or scribbling) I always have to go through and set it to 1280x1024 (my desktop size) Any way to chane the canvas size in the default chooser? Much appreciated.
  23. Yeah do you do that on purpose? Beacuse the same 'hard to read' text thing is going on in your current... Dup the text layer, and add a 1-2px gaussian blur to the bottom one - then invert colors and lower opacity -- this will bring out the text a tad, while still preserving the effect. I'm sorry if this post seemed harsh, Sabrown, it isn't meant to be -- just a contrsuctive comment.
