I don't really update my pack very often, but I'll be publishing an update to my plugin pack next weekend. BTW, if you ever want to know if my plugins have been updated, just run the installer.exe again and it will prompt you to download the updated pack.

This will be fixed in the next release of Paint.NET. It is just a visual anomaly. Until then, the colorwheel doesn't have an alpha slider, so the swatch is wrong. The effect will work properly.

To me, it simply looks like after 150 layers, you're just running out of memory and Paint.NET stutters as there is a slight delay when it is bringing tiles into memory from disk. You could probably increase performance if you increased your RAM size from 4G to 16G and invest in an SSD.

Try this: NVIDIA control panel. → 3D Settings Management. → Selected graphics processor. Change to: "Auto-select".

You should probably consider increasing your physical memory. My laptop has 16,234 MB and it runs pretty well. The more physical memory you have, the less Paint.NET needs to page that memory out to disk. And, speaking of disk, you don't list what type of HDD you have, but if you upgrade to an SSD your performance will also improve.

This bug was introduced in the latest build of Paint.NET. Sorry about that. I have already submitted a code fix for it in the official source code repository. It will be fixed in the next release of Paint.NET. I'm not sure what Rick's time table is for the next release, but it shouldn't be too long.

It does for me. Click the color picker tool () then right click on your image... notice the secondary color gets set.

Click on the Adjustments menu and the Effects menu. Plugins you have installed will be highlighted with a small blue puzzle piece icon. When you hover your mouse over the individual menu items, you'll get a tooltip (small yellow popup window) that has information about the filename of the dll and other information about the plugin.

Thanks for the bug report. It was definitely a bug in Paint.NET. Sorry about that. I submitted a code fix. When Rick approves the fix, it will show up in the next build of Paint.NET. EDIT: It has been approved.

@xod, is the default set to Primary color and is your primary color have alpha set to 0?

I agree with lots of those too. Plus, you need to scrub the entire site and change "paint.net" to "Paint.NET".

You probably have the store version of paint.net, just click the Ignore button.

Run the application file. It will install the plugins for you.

Paint.NET is basically written by one guy, @Rick Brewster. So, it is not surprising that other software that have huge teams of programmers working on them have more features. Personally, I think Paint.NET is amazing. I started using it at v1.1 and the progress I've seen over the years is HUGE. Yes, there are. Rick understands that he can't do it all himself. That's why he implemented a plugin system. While it is true that the plugin system is limited. What you can do with it is sometimes amazing. Are you offering to help? Why not redesign the web site? Why not code a plugin so good that Rick has no option but to put it directly into Paint.NET itself? Or, are you just here to complain about FREE software?

Effects > Stylize menu Floyd-Steinberg Dithering This effect will reduce the colors of your image using the Floyd-Steinberg dithering technique. Effects > Text formations Creative Text Pro Creates professional looking 3D text. Outlined / Gradient text Creates text that is outlined with a selected color and filled with a solid color or a gradient. User "xod" has published a version of this plugin with even more features. If you find that my plugin isn't enough, install his. Window > Colors > More > Open Palettes Folder I have also included my Rainbow Palette. This is very popular on the forums. In the Color docker window, click the button and choose Rainbow from the list. This is what the Rainbow Palette looks like: Custom Shapes This plugin pack also includes 48 custom shapes.
