Using the full color range
BoltBait replied to DryToad's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
I think what you're looking for is: Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast -
If you have my plugin pack installed, yes. Here's how you'd do it: Select the gradient layer Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy that layer to the clipboard Select the image layer Effects > Object > Paste Alpha Use the following settings (only the top 2 settings will probably need to be adjusted):

Paint.net is unusable (for me)
BoltBait replied to TheLajorian's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
If you want us to explain your problem, you need to give us a little more to go on. Please see my post above and follow the instructions in there. Otherwise, we just can't help you understand what's going on. -
Is There a .PCX Conversion?
BoltBait replied to Marilynx's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/2135-pcx-plug-in/ -
Please continue development. I would actually like to see some of the capabilities built-in to Paint.NET, like tabs. Perhaps you could work with Rick to port some of your code directly into Paint.NET so people like me could enjoy tabs and other things.

CircleText for Windows 10?
BoltBait replied to JadeDraggon's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
This whole mess is why I will never use the Option Based Library in one of my effects. -
Creative Text Pro always renders text with a transparent background (to facilitate adding shadows, etc.). So, when you select and copy the text, be sure to use Ctrl+Shift+V in order to paste the text on to your favorite background. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+V (instead of just Ctrl+V) will paste into a new layer. That way, you can manipulate the text (like moving it around or adding shadows to it) before merging the layer down.

How to make "actual" 3D text?
BoltBait replied to Wizertex's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Have you considered using an actual 3D program, like SketchUp? -
Go here: https://forums.getpaint.net/forum/44-plugin-packs/ Look for the plugin packs that are pinned in that forum.

Be careful. Finlay is a thief. He is illegally redistributing plugins. If you want my plugins, it is best to simply download them from HERE as they come with an installer. The plugins he's distributing are outdated.

@ProjectNorilsk If you only want to make your canvas smaller, you can sort of do what you want like this: 1. Press Ctrl-A to select your entire image 2. Press M M to enable the Move Selection tool This shows the handles you're looking for. 3. Drag the handles to the canvas size you want. 4. Click the Crop to Selection button on the toolbar. This will result in the canvas size you want.

Paint.net is unusable (for me)
BoltBait replied to TheLajorian's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
Just so we know what we're dealing with, please do the following: Go to your setting screen () Click the Diagnostics tab Click the Copy to clipboard button Come here and paste that text into a message on this thread. That may give us some clues. Also, tell us about the typical size of your images. How many pixels wide, pixels tall, and number of layers. -
paint.net 4.2.16 is now available!
BoltBait replied to Rick Brewster's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Which anti-virus software are you using? -
Paint.NET doesn't ship with any fonts. It simply works with the fonts already installed on your system. Jokerman seems to be working for me... so I don't think it is a problem with Paint.NET: Check to make sure it is installed for all users on your system.

Old clipboard vector rasterizer?
BoltBait replied to Lu9's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Paint.NET used to prefer other formats on the clipboard. Now, it prefers PNG. (Meaning: if the clipboard has a PNG image on it, that's what gets loaded.) This change was some time ago, though. -
Could you show me what you're trying to accomplish? (Even a rough sketch would be fine.)

If you are simply using the plugins in the manipulation of your images, you can pretty much use them without compensation and you are free to sell your images. What is strictly forbidden without specific permission of the plugin authors is to redistribute the plugins or to charge money for the plugins themselves. If you wish to promote someone's plugins, posting a link to their plugin thread is appropriate. Hosting the plugins on your own website, selling the plugins on a CD, or including them in a magazine is against the rules (unless you get specific permission from the plugin author). All that said, if you find yourself getting a lot of value from someone's plugins, I do recommend sending that plugin author a donation--you can usually find a donation link/button on the plugin thread here at the forums. You'll feel good, and I can assure you the plugin author will feel good too. And, don't forget to donate to @Rick Brewster. That keeps Paint.NET free and the features coming.

The last time the author of this plugin visited the forum was in 2013, so... unknown? -
Freeze when over "acquire" menu
BoltBait replied to Je Hooft's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
@Rick Brewster, can you move the enabling of that menu item off of the UI thread? -
That won't hurt anything. I'm not sure what you mean there. You'll need to download the pixelcounter.zip file and unzip it according to the instructions on this page: https://boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingEffects.php Once properly installed, and you've restarted Paint.NET, you should be able to find the pixel counter in your Effects menu.
