Double-clicking when I single click

Recommended Posts

I am having a problem where even though I click on something once, it acts as if I double clicked it ( double new layers, new lines are made, accidentally deleting 2 layers instead of 1, etc ). This is not happening in any of my browsers and I already tried repairing and uninstalling paint.net but the problem still persists. Please help!

Sounds like a mouse setting.

  1. Open the Mouse dialog box.   In Windows 7+, click Start vistastartbutton.jpg, type Mouse in the Search box, then click Mouse (orMicrosoft Mouse) in the Programs list.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or clickAllow.
  2. Verify the button assignments in IntelliPoint software. On the Buttons tab, under Button Assignment, make sure that theLeft button setting is Click (default), and not Double-click.

If this problem occurs only in specific programs, click the Settings button, choose the impacted program, and then confirm that the Left button is set to Click (default) for that program.
  3. Click OK.

It could be that your mouse is in a hurry. Try using an older mouse. They tend to move slower with age  :D .

Just kidding. But I did have an issue with a mouse that kept doubleclicking even after changing the mouse settings. I changed the mouse and my problems went away.

Yeah what Eli said ... have you tried using a different mouse? Yours might just be broken. Double-clicking a link in your browser doesn't really affect what happens.
