MJW Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) I should point out that a common mistake in rendering gold (and one that the gold text tut may make) is to make the highlight white. That's wrong. For most shiny materials, the reflective highlight (which is called the "specular" highlight) is the color of the reflected light. So if the light is white, the highlight color is white. Colored metals work differently. The reflected color is more or less filtered by the metal color, so for a white light, the highlight is the color of the metal. I say "more or less" because the highlight color actually depends in a complex way on a number of factors, such as the angle at which the light strikes the surface. But for practical purposes, the metal color works. Using a white highlight makes the surface look like gold-colored plastic, not gold. One corollary of this is that you can make something look like gold by using gray shades to make it look like silver, then tinting it gold color. Edited May 11, 2015 by MJW Quote
Pixey Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I think we should try to do one thing at a time. This post I'll help with the star again. The Sarkut's Gold I don't think would be for you as it involves downloading an xml map and is really complicated. I'm sure we can come up with something simpler - later. For the star. When you upload the star into your PDN work it will already have a box around it. 1. Hold shift down on computer and pull on one corner nub - it will then decrease the size. 2. To move the star - hover the cursor over the box till you see a big "X" then drag into place.
