Are their any Plugins to remove Background from Images?

I mean i know to use magic wand but it does not works perfect every time and leaves jagged edges. Help me out with these one.

The jagged edges can generally be removed by applying AA's Assistant.

 

For simple black/white background removals I generally use AlphaSpace, though Grim Color Reaper will remove a wider range of colors.

On the list I do mention a plugin for cutting out images and multiple edge smoothing plugins.

There are multiple web sites that offer automated background removal without any selecting of areas by the user.

Surely it is possible to replicate the algorithms they use in paint.net?
