Web Design

Thats my current job hehe.

As far as images etc go thats self explanitory, template creating however can be somewhat tricky. First up, pick a 'theme' you want to go with, for instance autumn could be amber/soft brown colours with a leaf bottom right or something. Once you have made a base background you then want to cut out sections for banners / special offers etc dependant on the subject or the site. Persoanlly i created my template in a different software but used paint.NET for all my banners/picture editing for the products and 'special offer' signs. Then once you have done all this you 'just' need to align up the template background with your buttons etc that you create and uplaod the code :). I personally use .html or .xhtml due to my host but i also have a converter to .swf so i can make snazzy banners from things i make in paint.NET .

Basically, its not too hard, i suggest you draw out a design on paper first. That way you have everything placed where you want it..trust me this can save hours..i found out the hard way haha.

I did a little bit of web designing when I was in high school. I'm not that advanced at it. I mainly used Adobe Dreamweaver to set up my site. I used Paint.NET to make my images for the site. I was voted the best web page in class and people wanted to know how I made all my images. :D

I'll attach a pic of my school project website. It was just a working progress. The sidebar button glowed when you scroll over them!

Not bad, thanks for sharing. :) You should show me a picture of the hover. :P

Sadly, I can't. The files for the site have all been deleted. It was just a school project from a while ago.

Damn you, DarkShock ;)

In our computer science class, we had to set up our websites from scratch, type everything by hand :(

If I just had known of DreamWeaver then..

I started out from scratch when I was in Web Design 1, but a couple weeks into the class I tried out Dreamweaver and it was so much easier. I mean seriously, I just insert a picture and it DOES the code for me.

I have a small sideline in web design aimed at small budgets (therefore simple websites). I use Paint.NET exclusively and hand code the sites using PSPad.

I won't post the link as advertising is frowned upon, but if you click on my profile you'll see the link there. Check out the "Portfolio" page for an incomplete list of some of the sites I've created.
