Elgen T Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I recently moved to a new PC, and as such have now reinstalled paint.net (as any good artist should), but I'm having a really strange issue that I've found nowhere else. I've noticed that a lot of the built in effects just.. aren't there..? Namely, color quantization, which I used to use a lot. I checked that I wasn't going crazy and it is indeed built in, but it's nowhere to be found. I've reinstalled and updated, but still no dice. Maybe I've forgotten a step since its been so long since I had to reinstall paint.net? I'm not entirely sure. Any help is appreciated :) Quote
toe_head2001 Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 If the Quantize effect is not present in the Color submenu, then it sounds like you're using an old version of Paint.NET. Settings -> Updates -> Check Now Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Elgen T Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 I'm on the newest version. As I said, I've updated and reinstalled. Quote

Pixey Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Hello @Elgen T perhaps the 'icon' has changed lately? Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
Rick Brewster Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I haven't changed the icon for Quantize (icons can be kind of a pain to create, so I don't usually change them) 1 Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 You should also check if there's a "Plugin Errors" item at the top of the Effects menu. If something's going really wrong, and the built-in effects are dying, they'll show up in there. Elgen T Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 Well, I went to go grab the diagnostic info, and for some reason that is completely beyond me, the issue is just gone. No message, no updates, but just miraculously fixed itself.. odd. Only thing I can think is I was maybe somehow running an older version still even after supposedly updating, but I really have no idea. Thanks for trying to help 1 Quote
