Peanut
Hello I had version 4.3.4 which worked perfectly on my PC (update of December 19, 2012), unfortunately I accepted the update 4.3.7 and its installation freeze my PC after a few minutes of progression without any error message (tried 2 times) : forced to reboot the PC.As you forbid to terminate a previous version I no longer have Paint.net at all. 😢I can’t tell you much more than I think I’m running Windows 7, . net 4.7.2 and the Microsoft troubleshooter finds nothing abnormal. What else would you need to fix the problem?
Pixey
Hi @Peanut 🥜 (love your name) and welcome to the forum  I don't know why this has happened, but it does sometimes. Please read this:   Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.

Rick Brewster
.NET 6 is included as part of the app, there's no need to install it. If the Platform Update isn't installed, the installer will download and install it automatically (a reboot will be required). otuncelli
You can always try the official portable version. You don't have to install it. Just extract the archive, put your plugins in (if you use any) and you're ready to go.  You can get it from here: https://github.com/paintdotnet/release/releases  Btw, you should really consider upgrading to Windows 10 or 11. OK, that could be a workaround if no other solution.  My PC is too old to upgrade to Windows 10.
Peanut
I just noticed that Paint.net is still offered in the Start menu when it is no longer installed. I’ll reboot to see if that changes anything.
Peanut
I eventually installed .net 6 from Microsoft website, and I got this message (see picture 1) : I said Yes.  Everything then seems OK during the installation of Paint.net as it went through a lot of steps, and at the end, my PC freezed again. 😢 (see picture 2, last screen when freeze happens)  Edited February 7, 2022 by Peanut
