Paint.Net crashes at starting

Dear,

After installing Paint.Net on my laptop, impossible to start the software: The app crashes immediatly after double-clicking on the shortcut.

FYI, my Windows 10 OS is up to date and the installation process of Paint.Net was successful. Please, can you help me?

It looks to me like Paint.NET says, "Oh, I see you're running in French. Please tell me more..." and Windows says, "Sorry, I can't. Something's wrong."

I would try repairing Windows first.

Hi BoltBait and Merry Christmas,

You are right: I use a French Windows. Thank you very much for first improvement way. Given your recommendations, I attempted a "sfc /scannow" and then, "DISM/Online/Cleanup-Image/" but no solution fix the issue.

We noticed as well, Paint.Net runs perfectly with another session but it crashes since with my own session opened on the same laptop. So, the issue occured only under my session which nevertheless uses the same OS (W10 in French).

@Guillaume_69 Try setting "Standard digits" (Chiffres standard) manually to 0123456789 (in 2nd screenshot). I don't know why it's empty for you. I can't even select an empty value for this setting.

Also Paint.NET doesn't seem to be calling the overload of String.Format method that takes invariant culture parameter. Is this string really need to be localized? @Rick Brewster

That's fine, it's preparing the string for display in the UI. You don't use the invariant culture for that.

Yes, it needs to be localized. Some locales say 65.5% others say 65,5%
