How to create a bigger image from a repeating texture?

Recommended Posts

Hi, for instance, I have this texture:

FLAT5-1.png

My question is, is there a way to automatically repeat this texture a number of times? for instance, tell paint.net to repeat this texture 4x5 times (4 times vertical and 5 horizontal) to get this result:

I copy pasted it manually. The idea is to have some automated way to do it fast.  Thanks

  • TimAllen changed the title to How to create a bigger image from a repeating texture?

You can use Trail by Pyrochild to create the repeating effect. Should be under Object/Trail. You may need to add the plug-in if you don't have it already. It is found here:

I've tried the plugin but it doesn't seem to be doing anything, not sure how to use it.

This method involves no plugin:

1.- Resize your source image the resolution you want at the end using Nearest Neighbor resampling algorithm.

Source image is 64x64 and you want to 5 times to repeat it vertically and horizontally. So resize to: 320x320

2.- Press CTRL+Shift+Z or open Layers->Rotate/Zoom tool.

3.- Check "Tiling" box. And enter Zoom parameter 0.2 (1/5)
