Are there any good photo tut's here?

Recommended Posts

A quick 30 sec search on the net will yield literally hundreds of video photoshop tutorials which are very handy for those with photoshop installed.

Most of what I've found on the net as it relates to vid tutorials for paint.net are very poorly done in the sense that its very difficult to see what is being done on screen. From looking around this site it seems that 90% of the tut's here are more for those interested in designing graphics than for photo-manipulation. Now maybe I just hav'nt been looking in the right places for the tut's I need, so I'll ask,Is there a place on the forum where I can find photo tut's that can benefit the average photographer who is simply trying to improve his pic's? TIA

Hello, Zam, welcome to the forums! :)

Regretfully, there is no specific section for photo enhancement on this forum. To the extent of my knowledge, there are very few tutorials on this topic. However, you said yourself that there are plenty of Photoshop tutorials that are relevant to your desired outcome. Paint.NET has many similar features to Photoshop, so if you follow those tutorials, but use Paint.NET instead, I truly believe you can come up with similar if not exact replicas. Even if a feature is not available in Paint.NET, ask around, we may be able to find a workaround for you.

I find that the basic-level tutorials for The GIMP and Photoshop to be quite useful when tutorials here lack. I say 'basic-level' because the beginner tutorials are less likely to use advanced features of the two programs, therefore more chance of it being easily 'converted' to Paint.NET.

In the past, I've used PS Hero with some success, but there are countless ones out there. Don't forget to find GIMP guides as well, as sometimes users are put-off the tutorials on account of the not-so-friendly UI; there are some excellent ones abound.
