ss2115 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 As per title I'm frustrated by Paint.net version 4.0.21 hanging on install on my Windows 10 Pro 1709. I've been through this forum and established I do already have Net Framework 4.7 installed and also all the C++VC's from 2005 all through to 2017. What makes it worse is that yesterday I installed it on my Laptop also with Windows 10 Pro and it installed and works flawlessly - its because I like it that I want it on my office PC as well. Looking at the Task Manager at the chain or tree of the install, it might be stuck at initiating SetupShim.exe if that's of any assistance. I am the only user on the PC. Should I try Run as Administrator? (didn't need to on my Laptop). Any other assistance would be greatly appreciated. Quote

Doesn't Windows automatically elevate to administrator when opening the installer? i.e. The UAC dialog should appear. You could also try installing it while in Windows Safe Mode.
