Possum Roadkill

I wouldn't mind at all, but there is a chance that it might be used in the SAC since people have now seen the idea here.

I've received 2 additional entries since last night. I was planning on extending the deadline anyway, I just hadn't decided until when. How much time do you need? I was thinking about extending the deadline another day or two, so maybe Sunday evening? I know it's the end of summer and here in the states a holiday, so I'm flexible.

Man I hate to see another great artist leave this forum. Depressing.

I have one entry that was submitted the other day and I have heard from someone who has one almost ready. Anyone else interested in this theme? I'll post the two images once I receive the 2nd one. I may have to extend the deadline on this entry period.

I must say that blue ribbon looks good on you. Wow, there are so many jokes for the Hallie Berry comment, but since this is a family oriented forum, I'll leave it at, I really like Hallie Berry.......a lot......a whole lot. Whew ! Is it ever getting warm in here. Someone better open a window. It was my pleasure to host the AOTW and it was nice people like you who made it so much fun!

I really like it. The eyes are what makes it for me. The teeth are awesome too. Very clever piece. @ Cortez. Wow, very nice. I really like the abstractness of the background. Good clean image work. I kind of like the text myself. I guess because of the odd font. Not what you usually see. Overall, I'd say a 8 to 8.5. Looking forward to your next work. You should take a look at the Sig of the week comp that Chrisco hosts. I think you would do well if you enter.

I really like your piece. Very mysterious looking. I also loved your entry in the last AOTW. If I didn't know better, I would have thought Oma made it. It it a beautiful piece of art.

All in all, I think it looks pretty amazing. I can't even think of how you did that. Looks like bear fur. Grizzly bear fur, the meanest fur around.

I want to thank everyone who has entered the AOTW these past months. It's been you who have made this such a successful competition. Who would have thought just a few months ago that this forum would undergo so many changes. The new forum software has given us a great place and way to share and gather to celebrate art and our love of Paint.net, the best and easiest to use free imaging software ever. Thanks to Pyrochild for giving me the chance to host 3 comps at the same time. I'm sure you were sweating it for a while. I've done my best to make this a fair and fun comp that celebrated the reason why we are all here and included anyone and everyone who wanted to join in. This has been a great deal of fun for me. I want to thank Oma for letting us use her as an example of what great abstract art can be. I want to give a special thanks to all my special friends, who know who they are, for the support and friendship you have shared with me. Lastly, I want to thank Sarkut for always being there for members of this forum when they had a question, needed a tip, couldn't find a link, couldn't figure out a technical problem, or so many other things. You are a shining example of what this forum is all about. Now with an end to all the blathering, I officially turn this comp over to Sarkut. I hope you all will treat him with the same kindness and respect you all have shown to me. I'll still be hosting the WOTW and SAC, so don't forget to enter those as well. No he's not level, he's only got 3 legs and it makes him lean to the right a little.

Because I lost a bet. He also won my car and one of my dogs. (car don't run and the 3 legged dog can't hunt) I hope that everyone will continue to support this comp. I know exactly what you are saying. Take an existing logo and redesign it. Like they did for the latest Star Trek movie logo. Funny thing.....while I was trying to come up with the theme for the SAC this week, I thought maybe have a comp that would be to design a movie or TV poster for a SciFi show that hasn't been made yet. You know like the next Star Trek movie or a new Babylon 5 movie or even a comic book character that a movie hasn't been made for yet. You would be able to use stock images from existing movies, but the text and logo would have to be original as would the movie title.

Maybe the idea of having a comp for newbies only isn't a bad idea, I'm just sure how it would be managed. It might bring more attention to the comps in general, and at the same time give some of the newbies a way to gauge how they are doing. I'm sure there are other benefits that could be realized for the comps, newbies, and forum in general. It wouldn't necessarily have to be something tied to the tuts. It could be just a general comp with no defined theme. You know like a post your artwork and have people vote on it. Something to think about anyway.

On the Abstract and Space comps I get new members on a pretty regular basis, but on the WOTW not so much. I'm glad to see that you won't be running this as a tiered comp. I'm finding the more simple the comp is to run the better it is for everyone. They take up more time than you think they would. Have you given any thoughts to how you are going to do entries and voting? I'm betting you will have a big turnout on some of these.

I think this is being made way too complicated. A single comp open to anyone, with the host carefully choosing the tut each week, will avoid any confusion as to whether or not someone can enter this comp or that comp based on how many posts they have, or how old they are, or what their favorite flavor of ice cream is. I say get on with it and get it started.
