  1. PDN isn't a 3D-Program. PS can only get you so far with 3D, so your best choice to make a car for Nascar 09 is to get a 3D program to make it.

Alternatively, if you wanted to just skin a car then it could be possible, if you have the right file-type plugin. If its a .dds file, then PDN supports that, but if you know the file-type then you can use search to find the plugin to make PDN compatible with the file-type.

  2. Any chance of having the possibility of an option to save and load the settings in Rotate/Zoom as a .xml file. Sort of like the way Gradient Mapping and S3D handle the option to save & load files.

It'd make it easier to use Rotate/Zoom for many things - i'm thinking 3D work will become much easier as settings don't need to be figured out again. (i know the settings could be written in notepad, but that is really inconvenient).

Do you guys think its a good idea? If yeah, then, Rick, is there any chance of having the "feature" implemented in PDN?

I think its a good idea.

  3. @LFC: Did you render that in C4D for the overhead shadow? If so, that is how I got the shadow positioning in my latest piece. I assumed that the light was coming in from a straight 90 degree on the Z axis, however. As such, I got a much more uniform shadow, instead of a slight slant towards the R or M.

Yeah, i rendered it in C4D. I think the shadow you have needs to be more opaque; you could fade the blur too. Just make sure that if the light source is towards the front of the letters, then the shadow should slant outwards. A bit of Oct/Quad reshape/matte should fix it. :)

  4. The effects on the letters are looking really awesome. Awesome lighting on the letters too. :)

There are bits of the letter that seem out of perspective. Its easily curable, but you'd probably have to start over. When I do this sort of lettering, i render a grid on the canvas, and use Rotate/Zoom to create a grid floor which i can refer to to get the perspective right. I hope that makes sense.. :)

I suggest you make the shadow stronger, and use gradient blur on it. It should make the letters seem like their standing on some sort of floor or something. :)

Also, if you're confused on a shadow, just make the letters in C4D, and render to see how the shadow turns out; then you can make it in PDN. :)

Keep up the awesome lettering. ;)

EDIT: I got bored, so i thought i'd render something quick.

Maybe this is what the shadow should look like overhead:
