I reckon you could make the background more interesting. A slight gradient or faint pattern maybe? If it doesn't look good then forget spicing up the background.
Fonts are cool. maybe resize the gold truck a bit more.. its a bit too close to the text.
Great job.

Any chance of rotation with AA in the Grid/Checkerboard plugin? Would be awesome if it was possible.
-
Geez.. i haven't posted in here for like ages..
As always awesome work, loving the dolphin piece.
I highly recommend you get Adobe Illustrator (AI) CS4. You work is so vector-like and amazing, that it would benefit a lot being made in vector format. There's more, but i won't go spamming this gallery and the forum about how awesome AI CS4 is.

I think once the edges are refined, and a proper floor and shadows are made, then you make a highly photo-realistic image of something quartz-like. Great job.

Soul41, try darkening and blurring areas to give depth. Also, the tag is somewhat messy so clean it up a little. De-hectic-ize it. Maybe add some effects on top too. Good work.

Found/Made some time today and did this.. No GFX for a while does build an "urge" to make something in PDN.. This is the outcome. I like it, so i made it my new sig and ava.
All PDN.

On the nebula, try not to make it clear that you used clouds. Sort of distort them to looks like nebula-y clouds, but don't look like rendered clouds from a plugin. atm, they're not exactly like rendered clouds, but close.
Colours are great, lighting too and starfield is good. It'll be even better if you add planets, comets etc.

Thats really sleek. Awesome stuff. I highly advise your friend to use that logotype.
Maybe round off the join between the "t" and the "e" more, and make the e's closer, cos theres a little bump that imo looks a little weird.

Awesome stuff on both new pieces. On the eggs though, i just feel that the texture should be a little more smooth and less embossed..
Awesome stuff though.

Oh. Darn it.

Yeah i know, which is why it isn't really a proper workaround. works for non-transparency though.
Wish apply image was in PDN too.. i wonder if this would be plugin feasible too..
Any thoughts, you expert PDN plugin-writers?

You should put a stamp on the vert space sig that says WON SOTW
Will do.
EDIT: Wait, it sucked. A stamp ruined the piece lol.

Thanks tramojo!

lol flatten and copy. Its annoying after you've got loads of layers, but theres a workaround - sort of.
If you screen is big enough to view the whole canvas at 100% zoom, then just print screen, and add a new layer, wherever, then paste. Align the pasted screenshot to show just the piece you're working on.

Thanks for commenting everyone.
@Nab - Glad you like the avatar, but it was 100% Illustrator. It is easily possible in PDN though. I wanna learn Illustrator so i did it in Illustrator.

Nevar!!!
Illustrator all the way.
Somebody should make a tutorial on curved text. These curved (well circle) text questions are popping up quite a lot now. If a tut was made then you could simply link to the tut, and problem solved..

lemme highlight a few things.
The theme I have selected is a much more personal theme. In fact, so personal only you yourself could participate. Now, I bet your ready to hear the selection, so I will point to the thread title for this. This week's theme is yourself. Use this submission to express you, your art, or your feelings. Art is meant to be emotional, so lets bring back SotW with a bit of a bang, shall we?
There's more, but those are the important ones. The others can fit with the Technology theme, with a bit of vagueness.

Wait... so now OMA and Ash are both robots?
just kidding.

I didn't even know much about brushes before the custom brush plugin came out.

Well, what can I say: I like to bring back the dead and revive the fallen. As such, I again have decided to bring back the game of SotW to the Paint.NET forums. Since I am unsure as too what is going on regarding the previous winner and his choosing of the theme, I again have decided to select a theme.

Copy and paste much Mike?

The link works for me. I just tested it now.

I'll bet it took some time to work on that image. I have seen those kind of artwork in galleries (real life ones, mind you), and I had always wondered how they done it. Good job there, mate.
whoa. its some compliment for my art to be compared with ones in galleries. Thanks!
you know my only problem? those little words joining the letters. it... i dunno, bugs me a fair bit. other than that, my breath is gone. i need to find it. i really love the concept. Thanks man. Tbh i think the words between looks a bit odd too, but i had to have them there otherwise the direction of the words you're supposed to read messes up.
Thanks! This is way cool. I love words and art, and you've blended them very well. Can't wait to see more like this!I would say this is absolutely your best piece. I've always been meaning to do one of these type of art pieces but you know me ,,, my writing skills are so poor.only thing I wish in this is it was much bigger my old eyes had such a difficult time to read. but I did read it eventually and loved the story. very very well done.
ciao OMA
Thanks OMA. Glad you like the piece, and think its my best. I had to make the text so small as its a sig, but i'll probably do an LP text art version so there shouldn't be any visibility problems next time.
You don't really need to have good writing skills to do text art either. You can just write random words in different fonts and sizes to make a picture.
I absolutely love this. The last three words are absolutely brilliant. :OThanks Kemaru. Glad you like it, and thanks for the vote too.
lol thanks, but it doesn't matter cos:Art is simply opinion anyway.
Motto rip!!!
Yep.

I don't use the Custom Brushes plugin. Instead, I open the .png brush file as a new image and copy/paste it into my image.
Thats what i do lol. Its more flexible imo, but when i use hi-res brushes.. it takes a long time to use em..
