  1. New WIP! (see bottom of first post)

    Leopard Mech

I wanted to hold back on releasing this until I was done, but it's going to slow, and I'm inpatient to get some feedback on it. Inspired by something on PSDTuts (big surprise there), one of their Inspiration articles, about robots and the like, I decided to tackle making an animal mech, and I thought making a leopard one would be cool. I used a reference photo from Wikipedia to get the anatomy correct, but other than that, it's all my work.

I would also like to mention that the PDN file for this piece is 8.35 MB as of this post.

    Enjoy!

  2. Not unless you set the options to 1MB, instead of a specific dimension, it takes into account the file size. That way you can upload pics with larger dimensions while keeping their size. However, you have to upload smaller files. :o :D

  3. They are 1280x800, because that's my screen resolution. Sorry, non-widescreen people. Have fun with them.

But then why are the pictures you linked to 1024 by 640? :O

Other than that, great stuff. You have a great taste and feel for modern design. Also, love your vexel sig. Hmm, what else ... Oh, and your gallery name and banner are pretty creative. :)

Keep working at it, hope to see more from you.

  4. First of all, as Helio said, I did give credit to the tutorial you linked when I first posted my image in my gallery, even linking to it directly. Also, there is nothing wrong with copying someone else's effects, especially when they write a tutorial about it. The purpose of writing a tutorial is to share with and teach other people something they may not yet know. If they didn't want people to create images that looked similar to theirs, they would not write a tutorial on how to make it. In addition, it took a lot of work on my part to convert the tutorial from Photoshop to Paint.NET, and I credit ALL of my tutorial conversions.

    Oh! Okay now I remember.

Ouch...geez, how awesome do you have to be for Rick to know who you are...? :P

    One word: Ash. :D

  5. Umm,why not use the line/curve tool (bezier)? Then erase the parts that are supposed to go behind it.

Thats how I do all my glowy lines. And for other tips for that, I usually do a little gaussian blur on my lines, high softness outline object, and then glow at default.

  6. I was saying that I would be interested in a book that was written by an advanced PDN artist such as Ash, Expiration or Helio and revealed some of their methods.

Woot! Although I couldn't possibly write a book. I have neither the time nor patience to undertake such a daunting task. Plus, my writing skills suck (sometimes).

There aren't really any methods I use anyways. I just keep experimenting.

  7. I heard that PSDTuts is having a competition, so I thought, why not enter? Even though, of course, I don't use Photoshop.

I was going to enter my Energy piece, but I needed to spice it up a bit, make it look more Photoshop-like. So what better way to make something look Photoshoppy than to brush it up? After working on it for an hour or two (including finding the brushes, downloading them, and exporting them using ABRViewer), I finally finished (unless you guys have some suggestions for me). So without further ado:

  8. Sorry man, but I can't say I'm a big fan of your latest one. The shapes don't seem to have a lot of glow, they just look like solid lines. I would suggest softening up the edges of the figures, and also adding a white core in the center of all the lines, kind of like the glowing lines in my signature. :)

  9. Well, I tried some of that Ash's Pseudo C4D thingy ...

And yeah, I kinda copied off of Blooper (color scheme and stuffs). Anyways ...

    100% PDN

You guys like this one better than my current sig?

EDIT: Well now that I look at it again, the main "C4D" looks like it has too much contrast. I might fix that later. Or not. Depends ...
