  1. This area of the forum is for General Discussions and Questions pertaining to Paint.NET. Not for HTML, CSS or Javascript questions and discussions. See the bar above the orange box where it says You'll be wanting to post any more questions in the Web Design thread in the Alfredo: Here
  2. Another common trick is to select everything outside the moon and then invert the selection with CTRL + I.
  3. Like this? http://vector.tutsplus.com/illustration ... lustrator/ Here's some reading for you: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=28484&start=0 You'll be wanting the half-tone effects which are part of this plugin package: Ed's Egarious Effects
  4. Plugins do the hard work for us  . Plugin Index and you're looking for "Normal Map" or "NormalMapPlus" depending on what version of PDN you're using.
  5. You need to save the file in a format that supports transparency (*.png or *gif). More...., viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26975&start=0
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum. Rest assured, you're in the right place  Not only is Paint.NET extremely powerful, but it's free too! And the users are a nice bunch of helpful people. With Paint.NET running, press F1 to open the help files. Reading through these should get you started with the terminology and the basics of the program. This site is your friend: http://www.getpaint.net/search.html. Bookmark it :!: On the search site, type in term "cutting out images" and the results should take you to a neat tutorial on how to separate parts of an image from the rest. For snow the same site searched with the term "snow" leads to this forum post: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26714&start=0 wherein some nice snow effects are explained. Good luck.
  7. Plugins cannot access the area outside the current selection, so will be unable to move the selection sideways on the canvas.
  8. I might be missing something here, but what's wrong with using the line tool :LineCurveTool: ? Ensure antialiasing is enabled from the toolbar once you have selected the line tool and it should make a very reasonable line from one point to another, any width & color you want. If I'm missing the point, please post an image to show us what you're trying to achieve.
  9. Are you getting the full 3D effect from the final image? I mean are you seeing 3D letters floating over the background in this image?
  10. Perfectly correct. The reason you should follow Sarkut's advice is that the new pixels are replacing the old, regardless of what is in them. This is because you're pasting directly onto the existing layer. clipboard: User wants this image..., Paint.NET: OK, I'll put it here on the only layer available..., clipboard: What should we do with the transparent pixels? Paint.NET: Oh the new pixels overwrite the old ones - I'll replace the old pixels regardless. Instead, you want this: clipboard: User wants this image..., Paint.NET: OK, I'll put it here on this completely blank layer..., clipboard: What should we do with the transparent pixels? Paint.NET: Nothing. The background layer will show through the transparent bits in this layer. clipboard: That is Sooooo coool!
  11. They do too! They are just a little ....empty They need to be filled with the experiences you can only get from using PDN daily for a few months. Things like this tut might look easy to some of us, but open our world to the new user. This tut very clearly and simply explains a technique that will be new to many. I like it more and more. @Briamoth: That is very nice 8)
  12. I don't know if I fully agree. However, I feel that this is better aimed at Newbs and not the experienced user, so it's off to the Newbie Playground!
  13. December update: 9 new plugins. Two entries revised.
  14. You should also read the [rule=topl]Rules[/rule] (your post breaks rule number 6). To correct this go to your original post and click on the EDIT button and overtype your thread title with something more specific. Thanks.
  15. Big orange box at the top of the screen says Tutorials Only. you should have posted this in the General Discussion & Questions. Bumping your thread twice in four minutes must be some kind of record - please read the [rule=top]Rules[/rule], specifically rule #25. If you had used Search (rule #1) : http://www.getpaint.net/search.html you might have found this: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26979
  16. Correct. viewtopic.php?p=277271#p277271
  17. The OP hasn't been around for over a year either. I guess we'll have to make do until someone makes some new images available. Anyone willing to host them should PM me. Edit: Wilson has offerred to host the replacement images. We'll get these uploaded asap.
  18. It should be possible to make them - but you'll have to get someone to check them for you or you'll never know if they are right. Have you tried viewing the ones at the end of the tutorial? Any joy at all with them?
  19. Zoe, which plugin are you trying to install, and how are you trying to install it? (& you have carefully read the first post in this thread?)
  20. Oops! You should have placed it in the \FileTypes folder as per Sarkut's post above. Try placing it there and restart PDN. If you still have no joy get back to us with the contents of your \Filetypes folder. As Sarkut suggested, you might have a legacy plugin lurking there.
  21. Make template for each size. Save them each as a *.PDN file. Open the size you want with Paint.NET. How does that work for you?
  22. @MrZee theonlychad pointed you to the Tutorial Guidelines. After reading those, specifically 1a, 3, 5a 6 & 10 you'll understand why your tutorial has been locked.
  23. @ Bruce Gomes: pyrochild is talking about this: [rule=11]Rule#11[/rule]
