  1. Thank you. And I found a pdf writer (well, it converts DOC files to PDF) and I've been using it. And since there seems to be so much controversy, why not forget the publishing of a book and just make it a community PDF tutorial? An easy to read beginners guide in PDF format. I dunno, just trying to brainstorm. Here's the start: PDN forums won't let me attach PDF so I uploaded it to the free mihd.net service. http://mihd.net/9um18n6
  2. The creators of Photoshop or other graphics programs don't necessarily create the books... Fans, and program enthusiasts do. I just realized I can't create PDF files.. If anyone knows of a free PDF creator I'd be thankful.
  3. Great plugin Sabrown. A little late, but better late than never.
  4. What do you mean? Any age can publish a book... At least in the U.S.
  5. I thought 3.5 was the latest framework??
  6. Exactly my point. I thought that a book would give those people who like going to libraries for their information an opportunity to learn about PDN. Anyways, what if it started as a simple PDF file that was corrected, edited, etc., by the PDN community and maybe eventually published as a book?
  7. And, Sabrown, this book would not necessarily be geared towards you. After all, you are not new to PDN, and your artwork is great. I was thinking this book would just spread the word of PDN, plus help new users get familiarized and see that you can make great professional artwork for free .
  8. I may have been unclear. I didn't think the book should only be a compilation of tutorials; just that maybe some tutorials could be included for sake of examples and easy projects for new people.
  9. I just thought that a book would be an easy to access compilation of the tutorials and basic or even advanced tips on PDN. In my opinion, its easier to find information in an indexed book than searching around a forum. Especially for people who don't necessarily have a lot of spare time. Maybe I could start up a simple basic PDF or something, get input from others, add some tutorials WITH permission of course, etc.. I don't know. I'm just thinking... @Sabrown: It's true. You can find all you need about PDN on the forum. But the argument works the other way also. There are many photoshop websites and forums, yet there are many books on the subject. It's just another easily accessible way to learn about the program. Then again, PDN is updated so often, I don't think a book would do much but spread the word. More people would know about PDN. However, again, Photoshop is updated (maybe not quite as often ), but there are many photoshop books. Anyways, I was just throwing out the thought and seeing what people think.
  10. UPDATE: The process has started. Visit http://pdnguide.zxq.net/ to register and get started in helping with the PDN book process.
  11. Hmm, this is gonna be interesting. So there is no set theme? Just create as it comes to you? How about creating some sort of FPS or RPG? Then again, I think enough about gaming....
  12. BUMP/Update! I did some trouble shooting on my own and figured it out. It seems that my 3rd party Vista file unzipper (Alzip) was at fault. For some reason, it did not unzip this particular file correctly. When I uninstalled Alzip and used the default Vista file unzipper, the exe came out just fine and the installation works. Maybe this will help someone else who has a 3rd party file zipper .
  13. For the past couple updates (3.30 and 3.31 for sure, maybe even earlier), I have been getting strange unzip file errors. I try to unzip it and the resulting exe file is only 0 bytes or another file size that is still smaller than the original zip file (makes no sense whatsoever...). It usually freezes at 6% when it is unzipping and then I get the error. Also, if it does get unzipped and I try to run it, whether as normal or as Admin, (I'm on Vista) I get an error saying this is not a valid win 32 file. I have the base 3.22version exe file that I use and then update from in program whenever I need to install or reinstall PDN. Thanks in advance!
  14. Wow  ! Those are amazing. I wish I was half as good as you....
  15. I tried installing a new version to my flash drive. The PDN copy on my harddrive stopped working unless the USB was plugged in. I had to plug in the flash drive and uninstall it. Then reinstall it to my harddrive...
  16. Very interesting design! Keeps my eye one it . Anyways, here's another little something I whipped up in PDN: (Clickable)
  17. Here is an organized list of PDN user's DeviantArt galleries! Now go out and watch 'em! 0-ASH-0 (http://0-ash-0.deviantart.com/) Blooper101 (http://blooper101.deviantart.com/) Ilia-and-Link-Lover(http://ilia-and-link-lover.deviantart.com/) Madhatterl7 (http://madhatterl7.deviantart.com/) Pluberus (http://pluberus.deviantart.com) omagrandmother (http://omagrandmother.deviantart.com/) R3v-Fir3 (http://r3v-fir3.deviantart.com/) Rubrica (http://rubrica.deviantart.com) Sweetnut (http://sweetnut.deviantart.com/) I will add more as I find them and when I have the time to update
  18. PDN update: UPDATE - Due to school work, etc, I have decided to only update my deviant art () for times sake. Eventually I'll probably end up updating this gallery, but for now, its closed. Good luck all on your own artwork! For an organized list of people's DA galleries, visit here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=24279
  19. Wow, very interesting Madjik - imho, i don't really like the green and purple together, but then again others may love it. Anyways, its still a great design! *EDIT - on second thought, the more I look at it, the more i like the purple and green scheme. Keeps me staring at it . Here's my newest desktop background: (Clickable Thumb) Also an offshoot: @IceFusion: That's awesome! Made from scratch?
  20. My first ever sig using a render: (Then render wasn't saved as a gif , BUT only took 15min to cut out Its WAY too big, and a HORRIBLE color scheme, but you live and you learn ) My second attempt with renders: (This one was saved as GIF which saved me lots of time . ) I will post more at my deviant art: pluberus.deviantart.com (I'm on limited time so its hard for me to update both my PDN gallery and my deviantart - so i decided to keep my deviant art more updated ) BTW Vixie, AMAZING sig, especially for your first PDN one. Keep it up! You blow me out of the water...
  21. Wow! Very nice. Looks like it would be an awesome desktop background! Here's my newest work, I was just messing around: (Clickable thumb)
  22. I went back to version 3.22 - when i unzip 3.30 it says the exe is corrupted and I cannot run it. When PDN auto-updated to 3.30 I would work on something and everytime I tried to save it would crash and leave me to start over . Staying with 3.22 until this is fixed.
