  1. Thanks ! Agent; that chrome thing is pretty cool. Void; layering can help with the depth of the glass look Cool flowery thing janettsue. Here is what I made the orb with. The top left image is a circular gradient dragged from the 1/2 way point to that shape . Then Layering to product the basics of the layer inder the accentuating gradient. then luminosity. Rectal to polar , and shape 3d to produce the image on the low left. Then the magick of layering takes over with several flips of various layers which in the end produced a flower like pattern in the middle. For the record , a lot of people think that glass is only arrived at through gradients and this mini instruction shows how layering creates the depth in a sphere; There is a lot more to glass than the surface gradient, which in every real life instance is a reflection of something in the environment.Glass in an area without sources of light and that, can really seem quite flat,Case in point a sliding glass door in the right light appears to be invisible . The center sphere is nice all on its own but with a few more layers adjusting transparency and alternating layer properties I arrived at the flower. And unexpectedly. Keep in mind that this methodology for glass is still bieng developed by yours truly and I havent yeat explored methodologies for different shapes . So this is the mini tut before the official tut. Also trying to simplify it is elusive since base image and pattern are huge factors and arriving at a desired out come is a complicated process.
  2. Distressed; that edit is excellent. Oma; That pattern is really impressive.
  3. Now that is handy info. Thank you.
  4. That is true , I guess i could have said it more succinctly in that Agent needs to believe in him herself. The designs are good , What interests me more is how they evolve. i just think a lot of people ASk for validation rather than just enjoy their abilities on this excellent software. To my knowledge I havent yet asked for validation nor will I ; I am simply amazed at what can be done with a free application like this, and how much easier it is to use than Gimp. Its a lot more intuitive. I like agents work and voids work I just dont think a person needs to ask for applause, i dont do it, Applause is such a subjective thing, and really outweighed by enjoying the ability ito create in PDN. Ps Blooper; its bound to get more complex  sorry I am heavilly Photoshop inspired. And thats my level of attainment as a goal in PDN. ( as close as I can get to that level ) LOL yeah once you start with chrome and glass it becomes an obsession.
  5. Youre needy. take a clue from me: you see how little posotive praise I get? I could go back through these pages and make that fact painfully obvious. When I started I got more kudos than I do now. In some ways it sucks i guess But my opinion matters to me more. Aside from that , seeing others try to create similarly exposes the appreciation more than some faint frail words ever could. people dont have to give me credit but when they try to emulate what I do that credit exists, CMJC pointed that out. That others were trying to do the same things. I honestly didnt even notice until he'd said that. And as to why I dont post more tuts refer to paragraph one and the example in tut 2 with 4 participants in over 2k views. I like my pearls out of the mud thanks. The clue to take? be independant give yourself praise and be your source of feeling good about your efforts. That and your sigs while stylish and interesting are an example of how to underutilize the program, Take a few steps forward once in a while. I get more support on DA than here But there were talikng about artistic community, a much different beast than a forum. It wont hurt you to step outside your comfort zone.
  6. Rasengan that is magnificent. Thanks twisted  Support is alwayws a good thing. On my second look Vlad , those needle tips are pretty cool.
  7. Hey now were talking good directions . What you did wrong Opacity isnt set right, more transparency needed. overall layering isnt complete and thats about it. This is how some of my glassy pieces look in some stages. Tips. Always have the base image ready to put on top of a layer like this , dont tweak the colors till the pixels break up and become unuseable because its hard to reverse sometimes. When crating an orb think of testing layering ideas create a base with the original orb create several layers with different layeringf properties and run them through the adjustment of layer properties leaving the base original. test it before you render. Always bear nin mind that layering and luminosity can make and break a glass texture.
  8. Hmm well that disqualifies my entry then , oh well. I didn't wanna say it either, but you posted too late too No I beat the dead line in both cases.Aside from that helio is seemingly gracious enough to allow the entry. And The only thing I wanted more time for is windows and such point gathering things but the project was laborious, too much so for such a late start. I am working on a second skin for fun though and its looking pretty snazzy so far. I think it will turn out as good. The background on the first one took 8 hours and it wasnt as complete as I wanted, making it an os skin was a second thought.
  9. dam seagate HDD  tests fine but has crashed me several times now.
  10. Last one of the series as a crash in PDN destroyed it all. Every ounce of the original PDN is destroyed. Not %$#@#%%$ happy at all. Not in the least.

  12. Olav that is awesome I will need to try making a beaker.
  13. Thats pretty cool oh satanic one Teeth need some AA to remove jaggies the metal could be blood red and the way you did the chrome makes it look like 2 pieces of metal at the base, which could have been accentuated in the black area. Overall its your best chrome yet and I think another great indication of how your artistic style is showing a unique flair. One more thing, its the only magnifying glass looking piece i have seen in PDN, and in that regard its excellent.
  14. The top later is just super transparent white gradient and dents with tiles reflection. really it depends on how you are using the effects. I dont have a 360 degree glass methodology yet a lot of the glass texture is heavilly dependant on everything else. its just not something thats a one method answer to every use.
  15. Embrace the grunge its your style and you do it well. Grunge is cool too.
