  1. That design is nice crazy, I love the color combinations. I never thought o use limsum, usually there is content to use already from previous site or they provide it. But that is a good idea, I will keep that in mind. edit: btw crazy, if i remember correctly, in image ready you can name each slice whatever you want. if you don't it generates the name like you said. I think fireworks as well I am pretty sure you can name the slices. I don't have them installed at the moment to check.
  2. When doing work for clients, you need to present a graphical design of what the site will look like, and clients change their mind a million times. So it helps that you have your graphic which you export to a format the client can see, make necessary changes, slice it up, and can then export the images to use based on the graphic you have designed. Then if the client changes their mind again, which happens all the time, you can edit the graphic and the slices are still there, so you don't have to spend time cropping to the same exact size you did previously, you can also change the slice size and all you would need to do is modify your css to reposition and size. Nothing wrong with ranting and discussing. I don't think PDN should do slices. I'd rather it was done in a separate program, pdn is for editing photos/images. In photoshop, they had imageready, and you were able to click a button and it would send it to imageready where you can slice and do what is needed, save, hit a button which would send it back to photoshop. When I say send it, I mean it just gets the writing permission on the file so you can edit it. Fireworks is for web design / development so you were able to slice your image directly in the application. Cropping is not the same. Slices are saved, so your positions and sizes of each slice remain. You can toggle the slice view on and off.
  3. Slicing is not bad, you have to slice images for a website. You are confusing slicing and using the exported html it creates. I used fireworks and imageready to slice images and export them. Then I build my template with css and xhtml, using the images exported for me. And if I want to change something in the image I can, and I can resize the slices as needed, hit export and all the images are ready. You read slicing is bad without knowing why. All graphic rich websites are sliced.
  4. I just saw in CS3, the clonestamp tool has an option to use up to 5 sources. The sources can be from any open image as well. So you can define (alt click) 5 sources, select which source to use, clone from that, switch to another source, clone from that ... etc.
  5. For the 8 points, it says matte only, but I am able to select either. Am I missing something? Added edge feathering option. New download link: http://www.evanolds.com/dl/OctQuad.zip Please let me know if you find any problems with it.
  6. It said 2 day if you don't have cs2 key but it looks like 30 day. Anyway you can do it with text. The way it works is it saves the layer to a file when you make it a smart object. So if you want to edit the text, it loads it as a new image, you edit the text, hit save, it reloads it on your text layer. And its beta, but it has issues on my system, either cause of Vista or my 8800 nvidia drivers which are beta as well. i.e. the image doesn't update I have to move the image child form for it to update the changes.
  7. I am downloading beta which is a 2 day trial, I will try it out, but I think it can apply to any layer, I don't see why it can't. The effects are all dynamic.
  8. You can re-edit text in photoshop. You only can't when you apply filters to it, all though you can apply some effects like drop shadow and what not and still edit it, also look at photoshop cs3 with smart filters. I think this single post will be immortalized in PDN History! moc426, ^That sounds a lot like the function of a word processor. Even Photoshop doesn't allow that after the text is finalized(rasterized).
  9. Editable text doesn't make it a word processor. Having editable text means you can change the text you entered. It is an important feature and PDN will have it, and it still won't be call a word processor when it does.
  10. Which wacom is recommended? Graphire? Intuos? size?
  11. CS3 has a huge new feature called smart filters. check it here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/features/
  12. Thanks!!! I actually used this plugin for a work related task today.
  13. Either you were messing with me or the download was bad, I checked the dll it was a 0 byte file, re-downloaded it, it works now. Would be nice if this would go in the adjustments menu. Thanks
  14. Where is this? I added the plugin, I see nothing.
  15. I actually had read these, but I am still have errors. I don't know what MT.exe or SignTool.exe is as well. Still trying to work this out, but its not looking good.
  16. I get a bunch of errors on loading the .sln file for paintdotnet. Here is a screen shot of the error on load. It is followed by maybe 5 total of these. http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/9205/capturetp6.jpg Any ideas?[/url]
  17. I mean when I click vertical on your effect, it does horizontal lines instead of vertical. Not which is the default it is doing. Well, I was unsure of which way it should be. It depends on what you think describes the orientation. I visited http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlace and got the impression that "normal" interlacing is vertical so...
  18. Thanks for updating it, btw your vertical/horizontal are incorrect. Vertical does horizontal and vice-versa. I already did. No you didn't, you rolled your own. Your attitude isn't helping anyone (especially considering this is my first publicly released plugin), and isn't exactly increasing my eagerness to make any new plugins. That said, I did manage to fix the preview issue with a little Reflector help.. (How was I to know that I needed to call FinishTokenUpdate on every value change?) A new version is online, also with horizontal option
  19. Can you have an option to do this as vertical as well? Actually BoltBait, I was able to use your code to do that myself, I am just having trouble adding the 4th slider, does code lab allow more than 3 sliders? I removed the primary / secondary option since thats not really needed. Will have to try working with the source code for pdn instead of codelab. offtopic, I can't save the dll from codelab unless I run pdn as administrator in vista, any other work around?
  20. Thanks, this is cool, someone help him fix the preview.
  21. Oh thats not related to this though, if you ctrl click a layer, it should select the drawing on that layer, you can still ctrl click to add to the selection. For example you can ctrl click a layer, then ctrl click on the canvas to add to the selection. I also think ctrl shift click allows to select more than one layer in photoshop if I remember correctly. So it should function like that too. <- edit: speaking of me, of course.
  22. What does ctrl click do currently? It doesn't do anything when I do it now.
  23. I am really requesting the feature. In photoshop, I ctrl click a layer and this is done. I currently use the method you describe.
