  1. Results are in! Congratulations to Mike Ryan for winning with 36.84% of the vote! Congratulations are also in order for Jerkfight and Barbieq25, who won second and third respectively. Good job both of you, and thanks to everyone who participated. Look for SOTW 37 to be starting in the not to distant future. Hidden Content: Explanation: For this week's competition, chrisco and sokagirl have chosen Fantasy as our theme. It can be anything from trolls, castles, space opera, starships, prancing unicorns, anything fantastic! As usual, you must link to any photos or renders that you use. It'd be great if you share with us the name(s) of the fonts used (if any). Basically, all the normal rules still apply. The deadline for this competition is 23:59 (11:59pm) (EST) on Monday, April 16th. To see the current time in EST (my time), click here (WorldTimeServer.com). Check the SOTW Rules! If your entry breaks any of the rules it will be disqualified. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Max sig dimensions follow the board's max sig dimensions, 500x200. NOTE: The forum limits signatures to 500x150, so if it's too large don't try to use it as your sig. No crude / offensive language, pics, et cetera. Sig must follow the set theme. Only one entry per person and no modifications to your image are allowed after submitting your entry. You must post the URLs to any and all stock images used in your sig. You are allowed one post in this topic. That post should include your sig, links to your source images. Placeholders (empty-posting now, editing in a link to your sig later) are not permitted. When submitting a signature, do not use one you have used in a previous competition, and don't use one you made a long time ago. The idea of this competition is to get you to create new things, and if you're digging back in your storehouse of unused signatures, you're not doing that. Note also that the winner of the current SOTW gets to choose the subject for the next competition! ------------------------------------------------------------------ This thread is for posting your entries only! If you wish to talk about one of the entries you can do so here. If a comment or other non-entry post is mistakenly made in this thread, it will be moved without penalty to the discussion thread. Just don't be surprised when it magically jumps over there. Good luck all, and thanks for participating!
  2. Any word on the next competition? i would like to start it up.
  3. Let me know as soon as you decide. I'm looking forward to setting up SOTW 36, whatever it may be. Also, everyone note the new competition location, courtesy (I believe) of Pyrochild.
  4. Chrisco97, you can stop holding your breath now, the results are in!
  5. Hmm, rather surprising results.
  6. Thank you Sokagirl. Voting will end tonight, so send me a PM quick!
  7. Here's an update on what I'm doing, not anywhere close to done yet: Some of the changes to be made: I'm going to fix the lighting on the gas giant, relocate the out of place stars, and place a white giant sun in the left corner. More stars will go over to the right, and i hope to spiff up the nebula on the left. Any suggestions so far?
  8. Wednesday or so. I just found out about another project, a 25 minute presentation, due Thursday. But I should still have free time to take care of the competition.
  9. I say this a lot, but I swear: I do want to make tutorials for some of my spacescape making techniques. As Rick says, the problem is "just doing it." There are many many space tutorials on DeviantART, though most are geared towards Photoshop. You can try looking there and converting the steps from Photoshop to PdN. Also, there are a few space tutorials here on the Paint.NET forum that I bet would help you out. However, the ones I've looked at are unfortunately rather broken by the forum move.
  10. I just saw this, thanks for the vote of confidence Mike Ryan. I've been putting off looking in my gallery, no doubt it's a nightmare. Also, are [hide] tags going to reappear on this forum, or are they gone for good? EDIT: So, from looking at my gallery (which was in surprisingly good condition), in the second post, my hide tags are intact, bizarrely enough. They don't work though, just show up.
  11. Keep discussion to the discussion thread, wherever it may be.
  12. I'm done now. I would have had the poll up days ago, but the forum suddenly went AWOL. Now that it's back, I'll get the poll up ASAP.
  13. I just now closed it. I typically don't officially close entry till the morning after, mostly because I don't want to be up at 12:00. That time between midnight and when I wake up translates into "grace period."
  14. Entry is officially closed, I will post a poll just as soon as I'm done with my 16 page paper.
  15. The deadline is tonight, any last minute entries?
  16. Paint.NET doesn't have a content aware fill. Whether it does is up to plugin makers, but I suspect this would be too big an undertaking for a plugin.
  17. So that was kind of like programming terminology for the worst case scenario, I see. I suppose cosmic rays are as good as any scapegoat. They do mess up Toyota's too, after all. Regarding the "superiority" of PNG's: I don't think they're necessarily better that TIFF's, but it's a widespread standard, it is fairly compact, it supports transparency, and it's pretty high quality. I can't say a whole lot about TIFF's, but I think PNG's are the more convenient option.
  18. Please do enter, there is still plenty of time.
  19. I try to avoid working in nuclear fallout, personally.
