  1. Since quite a lot of people nowadays appear to be unaware that they can use Alt + letter keyboard shortcuts for navigating Windows application menus and controls in dialogs, here's a reminder... When Alt is pressed, the shortcut letter associated with the menu or control is underlined. For example Alt + L H is the shortcut for Layers -> Flip Horizontal And on the Resize dialog, as @Rick Brewster says, the shortcut Alt + B will jump to By percentage (and then back to By absolute size if it is pressed again).
  2. Or, if you had looked at the Documentation (in English) you would have seen how to easily change the paint.net language. Or, if you had told us that you were 'stuck' with paint.net in Spanish, then we could have helped you switch to English in January, when you first posted on the forum. I did not say that. What I said, after reading your previous questions was:
  3. But, as the OP confirmed, it isn't just a case of clicking browse: It's Microsoft's choice to make it thus. And Adobe's choice not to allow anything other than browsing to an .exe or a .bat to populate that field. Not all apps that launch external programs have that restriction.
  4. Alternatively, you could have followed the previous advice:
  5. Everyone is new at some point - but please do read the Forum Rules, which are linked at the top and bottom of every page, before posting again. Thanks.
  6. Pressing Fn is only necessary if the keyboard (typically on a laptop) has dual purpose Function & Application Keys (i.e media keys, etc). i.e Fn + Print Screen is the same actions as just Print Screen. This is what @Aeroica is already doing. They've also tried copying using the Snipping tool.
  7. Welcome to the forum @Aeroica Please state: Which version of paint.net you are using? Which version of Windows you are using? What tool you are using to grab the screenshot?
  8. Welcome to the forum @PLATON635. Please read the Forum Rules, which are linked at the top and bottom of every page. Note #22 All forum activity must be in ENGLISH. Please repost your question after translating to English. Also see rule #6 and edit the title of your post. A title of "Pixels" will not help anyone else who is searching the forum for answers to a similar question. Thank you
  9. As Rick says, you have insufficient RAM for when the file is open for editing. 120MB is just the size of the compressed image file. What is your image width & height? And how many layers does it have? This will help you understand the memory requirement:
  10. There is no such PDN procedure. Nor is it likely that there is a Windows tool that can do what you want. The website is likely rendering only a portion of the PDF as an image to the screen. The portion rendered changes depending on your scrolling. As this is not a paint.net question and it relates to a paid access site, I've PM'd you to discuss. Please see the Messages envelope at the top of the page.
  11. @BlastOfBN Despite what you say in your first paragraph, this is related to the editable text feature request. It would require the ability, while the text was being entered, to hold on a per character basis, attributes such as: Font name Font size Colour Style (bold, italic, underline, strikeout) It would require the ability to select, highlight, and modify spans of characters while the text was being entered. It would require the state of the toolbar controls to be updated to reflect the attributes of the characters that have been selected, including the ability to handle the situation where the selected character span has a mix of different attributes. This is part of the 'other plumbing' that is referred to in the Popular Feature Requests post, full implementation of which would also need the capability of storing the text 'object' in the .pdn file as well as selecting re-editing the text after it had been committed.
  12. @MHile Welcome to the forum. However, you have revived a thread which is 12 years old. Before posting again, please read the Forum Rules (linked at the top and bottom of every page). Read them all, but note in particular #11. You should also read the Documentation. Click the Help icon top right in paint.net. The info you were looking for is described here: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/RectangleSelectionTool.html
  13. Do you have an Nvidia GPU? Is RTX Dynamic Color adjustment activated in your Nvidia settings? If so, deactivate it. If that does not help your situation, then in paint.net click Settings -> Diagnostics -> Copy to clipboard. Paste the diagnostic text here.
  14. @jean jean delabrouette Please don't revive old topics, especially as your comment hasn't added anything to what you wrote previously. @Rick Brewster noted the original request and the discussion in this and other threads:
  15. Your previous paint.net installation, whose files you have tried removing/renaming, will now be broken. Try using this utility to fully remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew.
  16. @Ernie J D when this next occurs, could you open Task Manager and check whether there is a paint.net process still running?
  17. @RandomMan181 The version of Simulate Color Depth that you can download from the first post is this topic works in 5.0.13. What makes you think that it does not? Have you unzipped the downloaded file and put the .dll in the Effects folder? See https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/1708-how-to-install-pluginsgeneral-plugin-troubleshooting-thread/ Also, please read the Forum Rules before posting again; read them all but note in particular #10. I've deleted the personal 'status messages' you used to post questions. Please ask your questions in the forum.
  18. @pmbAustin you are simply repeating what was already covered in the topic Could copying a shape copy that shape instead of the image? that was linked to just 2 posts above yours. Yes, it would be ideal to have this capability. Many of us would find it useful. Whether it gets implemented or not depends on @Rick Brewster's priorities. There are many things in the pipeline for a future major release. Maybe so, but the way paint.net currently works is the way that most raster graphics editors work, in contrast to the operation of a vector graphics editor.
  19. Nice lateral thinking to block your colors together so they provide a larger target for the mouse pointer.
  20. Oh, did you mean @putamen that you are choosing colors using the Color Wheel every time? If so, you should definitely do what @Ego Eram Reputo suggests and put your 4 colors at the start of the palette for easy access.
  21. There was some discussion in 2022 about selecting colours from the palette using keyboard shortcuts: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/121356-feature-request-dockable-color-palette-keyboard-interface/ however this not currently an implemented feature. It it is implemented in the future, you would then be able to set the macro buttons on your mouse to produce the appropriate keystrokes. Plugins are not able to do what you are asking.
  22. So, why not just try it yourself and find out? Display the History window. Read the Documentation if you are not familiar with it: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/HistoryWindow.html Then carry out the actions that you have described above and observe how it works. History files are written to disk, not held in RAM, so there is no impact on memory.
  23. I understand your argument but... I don't think you can safely assume that. It wouldn't necessarily be the case for: People who use paint.net continuously as part of their job. A reason they would deferring the update to close time is just to ensure it doesn't interrupt the editing of the images they are working on right now. But they want paint.net running again at the end of the update. People who have paint.net running all the time in the background. I do this so that I can avoid the few seconds start-up time each time I use the app, which is frequently. I just press Win + 3 (it's pinned as the 3rd app on my taskbar) then, typically Ctrl + Alt + V to Paste into New Image. People who want check out the changes that have been made in the new release. There have been 18 paint.net updates in the past 24 months, so on average that's only one update per 1.3 months, so maybe it's going a bit far to say that the current behaviour is "rather annoying" as it's only one mouse click to uncheck the start paint.net box during the update. 18 extra clicks in 2 years is no big deal (IMO).
  24. Resize and Canvas Size are two different actions. You do want Canvas Size. Click the Help icon and see the Documentation. Look at Menus -> Image Menu -> 'Canvas Size'
  25. Nope. Not after New image. You need to cause the scrollbars to be displayed first, which as @Dreamwing says, can be done by zooming in then out by one step. Visually, the canvas is then the same size/zoom level as it was just after doing New image, but the scrollbars are now enabled, so you can pan. I often find myself doing the sequence: Ctrl + N Return Ctrl + + Ctrl + - to create the new image and immediately enable the scrollbars so that I can pan the canvas to where I want it to be in relation to the Utility windows.
