  1. @frer8833

    You could copy the selection into a New Layer, saturate it, then apply Alpha Blur plugin effect.

    Or:

    You could copy the selection into a New Layer, saturate it, then apply a Radial Gradient in transparency mode.

    If you wish to apply the saturation effect to an irregular shape, make several duplicate

    saturated layers and do a series of smaller targeted gradients.

  2. Yes. The font size was set to 135%.

    At 100% everything fits.

    I don't recall the font setting at 135% being a problem with paint.net 4.2.14.

    Will reinstall 4.2.14 and check.

    =========================

    With paint.net 4.2.14 reinstalled the clipping is there.

    Surprised I hadn't noticed it.

    I can live with the clipping better than the tiny letters and numbers.

  3. You can make a New Layer, Paint Bucket fill it with white, move your image layer to the top.

    Do your editing, delete the white layer and save.

    I think that I misread what you were asking for.

    Don't know of a way to choose a background color and have it display as white.

    However, if it helps, you can Magic Wand the alpha, invert selection, and Paint Bucket fill the selection with the appropriate background color, then move your image layer to the top.

    If you do any erasing only the background color will show thru, not the checkerboard.

    Merge layers before saving.

    ================================

    If the surrounding chequered background is still distracting while editing,

    have a white bottom layer and delete it before merging layers and saving.
