When i erase a backround in paint.net (no layers), when i try to save it it isn't transparent anymore?

Recommended Posts

Whenever I edit a photo I want to use for something, I usually make the background transparent and only leave the part I want (so i can use it specifically.) But for some reason,  all of the sudden, when I save images blank parts are reverted back to white? I don't understand.
