WadeEuler Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) The Problem is that I had the program installed on an external HDD and a virus got in and corrupted/deleted a large portion of the program and my anti-virus thought it a good idea to remove all of the programs files. But I still can't Install/Uninstall, basically it runs like normal till it gets to the End of install and Complains: "Fatal error during installation." How is this Fixed? Crimden Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I don't know much about fixing computers and getting viruses off but all I can recommend is trying to download and install it again. 1 Quote
david.atwell Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Hey @Crimden, if you don't have anything to add to a thread, you don't need to post on it. In Troubleshooting threads in particular, we'd prefer you didn't. As the original poster noted, the install is failing. There's no reward for posting a lot, so just hold off if you don't have anything to add. Thanks. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
Ego Eram Reputo Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 my anti-virus thought it a good idea to remove all of the programs files. It's probably safe to say your anti-virus software did an incomplete job. To resolve the issue you'll need to remove all the hooks before re-installing. Read this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ In particular you want post number two. 1 Quote ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
