SAC Comp Rules: All submissions must be created in Paint.net with the exception of renders and stock photos when allowed. When they are allowed, obviously you cannot use the stocks or renders as your entire submission, so the majority of your image should be created in Paint.net. When Theme Rules allow, you must post a link to any stocks, renders, images or parts of images you did not create in Paint.net, i.e. fractals created in a fractal generator program or textures created in another program of any kind. Minimum size is 800 X 600. There is no Maximum Size. Special Rule #5. Do not anger the Possum. Submission Rules All images must be submitted to me in a PM. Do no post your image in this thread ! Do not post your images in your gallery or any other gallery until this comp is over ! I will post your image in the poll, that is the only time your image should be seen before the voting begins. Do not sign your image or put any kind of identifiable marker or logo in your image that people will link to you. You may post your image on any other website where you are a member (i.e. Deviant Art, PdN Fans Forum, Facebook or any other forum or website, just not on this website until the comp has concluded. NO PLACEHOLDERS! Do not send an entry until it is a finished product. NO WIPS (works in progress) ! No images previously submitted will be allowed. I reserve the right to add to the rules as people do things to annoy me. (See special rule # 5.) THEME IS: When Worlds Collide! Planetary Collisions. Theme rules: You are to make an image depicting a collision of planets, planets and other space objects like moons, comets, asteroids, etc. You may also depict a planet exploding after an unseen collision. You may however, use another program to create parts of your image i.e. Apophysis, Gimp, Incendia, Photoshop, etc. The majority of your image should be made in Paint.net. The use of other programs should be limited to the creation of textures and minor elements of your image. (Remember, Possum’s have a sixth sense about things like this, do don’t make me hunt you down. So with that in mind, special rule #5 is in effect for this competition ). This thread is for DISCUSSION only ! If you want to ENTER this comp, please read the above rules. The Entry period for this competition run through Sunday evening September 18th, 2010) at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Savings Time. After 8 comps of the Space Art Competition, it's time to put it on hiatus for a little while. Don't worry, the SAC will be back next month with a theme already chosen and waiting to roll out. I have been wanting to try out a comp that I brought up HERE Instead of writing the entire thing out for a third time, this is from a PM I sent to Pyro the other day about some ideas I had about expanding the comps...... Photomanip of the week. Theme will be 2 photos chosen by winner of last comp. Entries will have to use both images and manipulate them into a new image. Example would be a photo of a parrot and a photo of an alligator. A person could combine the parrot and the alligator into a single animal or have the alligator with wings, or the parrot with a big mouth full of teeth. It could even be a landscape and a car. Someone could make the car into flowers and fill part of the landscape with pretty flowers. See? How cool would that be? OK, I do want to change it up a little from what I originally described, and I only want it to run for a month or so before I bring back the SAC, but I thought it would be a nice little change of pace and give the photo artists a chance to show their stuff. Possum Roadkill Posted September 25, 2010 Author Share Posted September 25, 2010 Stock photos. I'm not sure I understand why you would want to limit what people can use in this comp? It seems to me that a lot of people like to work on a large canvas. If I limit the size of images they use to create their photo manipulation it would limit and inhibit the final image they want to produce. I don't even have the rules set up yet. Why don't we see what I come up with and how the first round goes. If at that point if it looks like we need to make some restrictions (I don't really like restrictions), we can discuss it then. If you have a specific reason why you think the image size should be limited then I will consider it as I write up the theme and rules for the next round.
