Paint.net no longer works!

Idk why, it just stopped working. I got a trojan called msa.exe. It's gone now though.

I noticed afterwards pdn wouldn't work. I clicked the paint.net repain tool and that no longer worked eigther.

The whole paint.net folder was broken! I am not sure what it's from... So I deleted it and I am trying to install 3.5.1, but it doesn't work. When the .Net framework is installing, once it gets to 40% it closes for no apparent reason.

Btw, I am using vista. Please provide any help you can, thanks :D

Same problem with XP SP2

I tried to update to 3.5.1, it quitted around 30% of net.framework

the 3.36 version did not work any more

pdnrepair created an empty logfile

I got this window

win.GIF

Reinstallinitg did not work

deleting net.framework 1.1,2.2,3.0 did not help. they would not re-install properly

I tried Windows Installer Cleaner to no avail.

Restoring to a date before the problem did not change anything, 3.36 did not work ,

I got the same window as mentionned above

I have A-squared Anti Malware, It does not detecte any virus.

Help, please, I am stymied. I loved Paint.net,I can't do without it

walterg:

Your first step has to be getting the NET framework reinstalled properly.

For help with that, do a Google search for --- Windows XP tech support forum.

If Paint.NET still won't install after reinstalling up to the

NET Framework 3.5 SP1, then come back here and create

a new topic about the problem.

Read the rules.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

No. Older version are not supported. We have a rule that specifically states this: [rule=8]Rule #8[/rule]

Edit - beaten by David (who never sleeps)
