Refreash Tool...

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I've just been using Paint.NET to design my new website and I needed some new fonts. I went to Dafonts.com and downloaded what I needed. I then put the file in C:\Windows...etc... But then I rememberd that you have to restart Paint.NET for the fonts to be accesable. I had to save my file, close Paint.NET and open it agin.

Wouldn't it be easyer to have a refresh tool that installs the new fonts/pluggins without clearing your work?

It's just a small change but I think it would make a big difference...

Thanks for listning

Probably that isn't possible. Because if it was,

Why do we need to restart firefox when we install new extensions?

Why do we need to restart word when we install new fonts?

Why do we need to reboot our computer when we install a program which messes with the registry?

yea I know what you mean but couldn't Paint.NET temporelaly save itself, restart, load the save file and delete it all in one click, or is that to complicated (I'm not the pest programer lol! )

Yeah that's about as complicated as they come. Not going to happen.

What would be nice is not having to wait for ages for all the fonts to load in.

For 3.0 I'm planning to load that list in a background thread once Paint.NET is finished starting up. So it won't kill the startup perf like it was in v1.0, but if you don't reach for the dropdown list immediately then it will come up perceptively much faster.

I was thinking this as a solution. It will be of a lower priority, I presume, so it doesn't kill rendering performance, either?

Well on my Major system I am running a 3.7 Ghz processor with a gig of ram..and im getting a new video card soon...

This system im on now is horrible. 1.4 Ghz and 512 mb ram. I dont like this one. It does take time for my renders to complete in paint.net though.
