Pixey
Sounds like you have an existing paint.net installation that has become broken. Please use this utility to remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew. Disk4mat
If you are getting that error on the install then I might try clearing the windows Temp folder. Then start the install as an Admin. Right click, Run as Administrator.... You can also try downloading the latest version in case your installer has an issue or came from another source. https://github.com/paintdotnet/release/releases/download/v5.0.6/paint.net.5.0.6.install.anycpu.web.zip SetupDownloader The program failed to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the program.
Rick Brewster
From what I understand, this type of error means that something with your .NET Framework installation, or its dependencies (like the Visual C++ Runtime, I think?) has become broken or corrupted. If you removed .NET, or anything related, you should un-remove it. You might also try going to "Add or remove programs" in Settings (use Start to search for it) and see if you can find a "repair" button. My reply was to direct you to @Rick Brewster's comment above regarding some other broken dependency on your PC.
