  1. Its not an actual blur effect. OP is using an opaque brush in normal mode and due to layer(s) properties is getting more of an effect/adjustment insdtead of the desired result. https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/BlendModes.html
  2. I can only throw out a couple rough guesses. It could be a plugin applying the lines, or it could be related to your graphic card sodtware (hot keys, screen recording etc) or lastly its the file format you are saving as.
  3. Yeah pretty much @BoltBait layed it out with some good information. If you want to edit/draw on the sky layer you will have to move it to the top or create a new layer (at the top). Any layer above the sky layer will hide what you are drawing. In your video I also noticed you using the color picker tool trying to get the blue and green. Since you are just clicking to sample the color, you are actually sampling the currently selected layer's color. Which is transparent. Thats why the resulting color in the color window looks like a black fading to nothing. Solution.... Hold down the CTRL key while clicking the mouse. This will sample the "merged" color (what you see) and you'll get the color that way.
  4. The layers could be where you are getting stuck. One layer might be selected and you are trying to draw / edit on a different layer. But some questions are: Are you trying to apply an effect? Which paint tool are you using that you are having the problem with (fill, brush, selection tool etc)? You have to imagine you are asking a blind person for help. We cant see what you are working with or doing. So we have to ask questions and at times take a good guess. If you could upload the file some place so we can have a look and then you can describe what you want to do, we could take you thru the steps.
  5. Isnt that the GD sad truth... Even my family members who should know this stuff (we are all 50+) dont think about it. I think the OP may not have described the noise correctly. Its a typical light tapping noise. Like when an adding machine is tucked under the pillow of your accountant and he is having a nightmare. On an older pc of mine, the hdd is a lower rpm and often struggles with heavy reads/writes regardless of fragmentation. Laptop BTW. @Rick Brewster I was just thinking for future TS could you add HDD/SSD information to the log? Just a few basic specs that could be useful several other type of sitations. Storage Type: (hdd/ssd etc) Free Space %: Here is where we can find out if the pc is loaded with junk causing read, write, slow load times etc
  6. A drive using a good amount of storage space and is fragmented will cause the drive to chug and struggle with reading and writing. Run disk cleanup and defrag the drive. To really reclaim storage space try deleteing old system restore points. A little maintenance goes a long way.
  7. I have this problem as well with a few older plugins... Ive only found one solution. Read this past posts on page 37.
  8. 1 year later Im still hopeful and appreciate all of @Rick Brewster's hard work and consideration PDN is still my go to app.
  9. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to where you have Paint.Net installed. Right click paintdotnet.exe (you may not see the .exe) In the file type column it will say Application. Select Properties. Click the Compatibility tab. At the bottom click the button that says "change high dpi settings". New dialog opens. Click High DPI Scaling and in the drop down box select "System (enhanced)". Click ok and ok again. Start Paint and all of your plugin issues will be solved. No more clipping or hidden controls etc.
  10. Facebook forum = Group. Most likely the admins / mods did not like the post and saw it as spam. Promoting a product / service. I suspect this is the case for people having this issue with posts being removed. A group is governed first by FB policies then moderated by group owner, admins etc. According to the group rules.
  11. Change your PIN when you’re already signed in to your device Reset your PIN when you aren't signed in to Windows Each of those articles has a tab where you can choose Windows 11 or 10 for instructions. But both are so similar you should be able to get the gist. In order to make a MS Store purchase a pin is required. You may have chose one during the initial windows set up (welcome to windows etc)
  12. Long version. The log file is used for the NVidia GeForce Experience and I would guess Paint . Net is using the GPU for rendering therefore your HIPS is detecting log read/write access. I can assure you that PDN is not doing anything malicious and its simply an event triggered by PDN + Geforece Experience module. This feature also seems to be linked to Shadow Play, a mechanism for screen recording via a hot key or screen overlay. To be honest I keep my PC very lean and never install the Geforce Experience (screen capture and other diagnostic goodies). The short version. Its safe. Create a rule if need be in your HIPS to allow access. @Pixey thanks for the translation.
  13. Why not change via Default Apps in the Control Panel? Start, Settings, Apps, Default Apps. Scroll down to PDN and click it. In the next screen click on the file type you want PDN to open/edit. A new window pops up. Select PDN and click "Set as default"
  14. Congratulations to everyone!
  15. I just edited and saved a DDS file using the exact same parameters without any problem. Like @Tactilis asked Also are you creating a new file or editing and existing?
