-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I checked my Windows Version and it's 1803

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I followed the suggestion of windows update mentioned here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113441-cant-install-paintnet-on-a-new-win-10-machine/

I checked Windows Update and everything is updated.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Checked the rest of the requirements needed

I checked to see if I had a Nvidia GPU since it was mentioned in this question.

https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113568-cannot-install-paintnet-415/

Look at attachment

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Followed steps #4-#9 of the following posting

https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/110411-common-install-uninstall-crash-problems-and-solutions/

I then Followed the link of #9 and went to “Windows Defender Security Center” but my “Controlled folder access”

was already turned off. So turned it on and then off again. Installation failed with same error.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looked into repair issues as mentioned in this

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

Trouble shooting could find no issue

Do I need a service pack to install Paint?

I have tried searching through this forum but I cannot see anything that can help me.

Maybe I missed something.  Please let me know.

Thanks

The registration for the UIAnimation system library seems to be broken. I have no idea how to fix that, but running sfc might help?

I'd be surprised if you're not seeing a lot of other broken stuff outside of Paint.NET

  • em504346 changed the title to Windows 10; Paint.net 4.1.5; Installation Error SOLVED

In case anyone had the same issue as me I followed this link

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/not-all-data-was-successfully-written-to-the/2eafab48-18b3-444b-a330-3d20c26786c9

After my upgraded - my version went from 1803 to 1809

I then regularly installed the Paint.net version specified in my original post.

It installed and works just fine now.

Hope this helps you too

I do not understand what that link provided indicates about the cause of the problem. The subject matter seems to be about a corrupt exported registry backup. If that is confusing me I'm sure it will confuse others here finding this thread having a similar problem in the future. So perhaps a little clearer information about what was done to fix it would be useful.

Are you just saying you just updated Windows10 with the latest monthly MS updates and that fixed it?

It was a non paint.net error so it does not belong here.  I thought I would give people a jumping off point.  If it is deemed not helpful then the moderators can remove it or this whole thread.  But, once you read everything on this page and everything in the Microsoft link it is an elementary solution.  I have limited time so I'm not trying to figure out the cause of the problem.  Once it solved my issue I moved forward with my projects.
