Microsoft Store purchase, cannot install plugins...

Recommended Posts

I purchased this app as a Windows 10 direct install from Microsoft this week. The app seems to work just fine. However, for it to be of any real use to me, I must be able to install plugins. So far, I cannot find a way to do that.

There is a shortcut pinned to the taskbar, but no shortcut on the desktop. There is no information as to where to find the executable or install folder. The default install folder does not exist on any drive. The view settings are set to show all hidden files/folders. For hours I have searched my drives in every way possible for any clue as to where the damned thing is, but no luck. I have scoured the internet for helpful documentation, but no luck. I have searched this site for any clue how to solve the problem, but no luck.

This seems to be a useful app, but at this point the only thing it has produced for me is headaches, lost productivity, frustration, and swearing.

Can someone please explain to me how to find the install folder?

The Windows Store version of Paint.NET requires you to install plugins into a sub-directory of Documents/paint.net App Files.

For example Effects plugins would be places in Documents/paint.net App Files/Effects.

See Installing Plugins in the Paint.NET help for more information.

The small increase in performance you get coding in C++ over C# is hardly enough to offset the headache of coding in the C++ language. ~BoltBait
