  1. Thanks a lot WIther, but it's okay, the first few breaths are free of charge. Thank you very much. A tut? It would be pretty long, what with all the detail and everything... Hmm...
  2. Looking good, you obviously figured out the Shape 3D settings no problem. It does, however, look somewhat 'cloudy'. Try toning down the contrast of the base image. Also, if you lower the opacity of the glass block and duplicate it, using curves and combinations of layer blend modes (color dodge or reflect) you might get a better result. Also, try putting some sort of background, something that will show off the glass and allow you to play with refractions (distortions through the glass). -CJ Thanks for the tip CJ, being a master "glass blower" yourself.
  3. And so Expiration dived into the mysterious world of glass... *with cjmcguinness' as an example
  4. No problem. And welcome to the forums by the way!
  5. You should probably check this tut out. Hope this helps.
  6. If I am interpreting your question correctly, you want to make an image kind of fade away to transparency, am I right? If so, when you click the gradient tool, go to the bar up at the top, where you can select the gradient shape. Next to that is an icon that looks like this: :AllColorChannels: , click it to change it to transparency gradients, which looks like this: :AlphaChannel: . Using black as your primary color and white as your secondary, just click and drag to create transparency gradients. Hope this helps.
  7. If your mouse is in the Paint.NET window, then it will take the form of the tool currently selected, there is no normal cursor/pointer. If you move it out of the window, then it will go back to its normal form. (hopefully) I hope this helps.
  8. It's me isn't it? Yeah, I know. Cause I'm just good like that.* *It is me right? Good luck to all the contestants, although in my opinion, I personally think it's a race between david, atwell and I.
  9. That looks awesome TLH. It gives it a grunge-ish look and feel IMO.
  10. It's actually very simple: 1. Gradient Bars (I used default settings) 2. Distort > Crystallize, lowest settings 3. Distort > Glass Blocks, I forgot the exact settings, but I think it was a low scale and amount, you'll have to experiment with that 4. Use color tint to add some color, I went with a gray-blue steel color scheme. 5. Duplicate the layer and Render > Weave on lowest settings, then change that layer's blending mode to something you like. 6. Merge the layer down. And that's it! Have fun experimenting with it and stuffs. *@Jerkfight: My previous post (where I posted my pic) has some comments on your picture
  11. A little gradient bars manipulation I've come up with. I call it: Industrialize: Comments and (constructive) criticism appreciated. EDIT: I like it jerkfight, it reminds me of a piece I made a while back. The one thing I have to say is that the grass looks a tad bit ... off. Okay, it looks way off, but thats just me ( i think  ). Other than that, its brilliant!
  12. Could you at least grace us with a preview of your masterpiece WIP? Pretty please?
  13. Ouch, sorry to hear that Stephan, and your submission was looking so good. I probably would have voted for it, based on what i had seen so far. Vote for mine! [/commercial advertising]* *I'm Expiration, and I approve of this message
  14. Nice! I especially like the second one Thanks. *Shoots
  15. Well, I haven't really been active on the PDN Forums for quite a while, but I've been lurking around, and I'm seeing a lot of neat stuff coming from you guys! Well, here's some stuff I've been working on: Blizzard and I'M GONNA SHOOT! (This one took like ... thirty layers ...)
  16. Thanks for the positive feedback, and I'm glad to help you and your friend with your forums. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the new effect control layout.
  17. Very nice HamsterJam! Glad you liked my tutorial.
  18. By non dominating i mean you can still clearly see the image, leme post a couple examples. This image i consider non dominating, there were no plug-ins used on the actual portrait so you can see and feel the distinctiveness of being drawn by hand. This image on the other hand was basically just shape 3D and some other plug-ins, in this case these plug-ins completely dominate the image (basically looks like it was done by a computer ) In the picture im working on for this contest i used the glitter plug-in the background of the base color, ya its there, but it doesnt stick out it blends in with the picture and still shows the originalities. to second your second question wither, i think that the advanced layer effects should be allowed to be used, im not really sure about the layer blend modes though. So basically, if you can't do it with a paper and a pen(cil), then its not allowed, am I right?
  19. Well... Spaceships don't really use ordinary roads. But to heck with the techincal stuff. I'll try my hand at this.
