  1. You want to put a picture of somebody into an already existing photo?

Ok, to do that, open the background or where you want them to be. Then in the layers drop down box up on the top, click "import from file". I think that opens in a new layer. If not, open a new layer and then do that.

You will need the picture of the person to just be the person. Using the eraser and magic wand, remove the background of that image, leaving only the person. You could try this tutorial to do that.

Then, on layer 1, you should have the place you want them to be, and layer 2, the person. You can make any adjustments you want from here.

And also, change the title of this thread to something more specific, such as "Adding a person to a picture" or something that relates to what you want like that.

  2. You either use codelab (in the plugin section) or a c# compiler (ex. visual studio) to create plugins. BB has made 2 plugin tutorials in the tut section.

BTW, what search are you using. The forum search, or searchpaint.net ? The second one is a lot better.

EDIT: Ok, Here you go. Theres a link to the second tutorial in the bottom of his post.

Just to let you know though, his tutorial is assuming that you already know some c#. You should spend some time trying to learn it before attempting these tutorials or writing a plugin.

  3. Yea, I noticed that too Rick. If they had a better UI, that program would be a lot better than it is now. That artical made a good point. By the time you learn the GIMPS UI, you would have already mastered other programs. Its a powerfull program, but with a steep learning curve. The day I installed paint.NET, everything just seemed to be in a nice, logical order. Although we dont have as much features, the UI is way better. The UI doesnt really make all too much a difference, but for something that unorginized, I would much rather just start using a different program. If I really needed all those features that GIMP and others have, I would just go out and buy paint shop pro or something. A lot better UI, and more features. PdN really fits what I need a graphics program to do.

  4. Yea, nothing wrong with a little more advertising. He didnt really put in all that good a word for pdn, but:

And I will add this one warning: although GIMP is both free and powerful, the interface is so excruciatingly difficult to use that by the time you become proficient, you'll be able to handle any graphics editor on the market with ease.

And that spike I pointed out put us pretty far ahead of the GIMP.
