NO. If you want to link to the coded design, it has to be out of the competition. Only images will be accepted.
-
Exactly, uH. The more ideas for competition, the better.
Although, if you only code your design --instead of making a screenshot-- you will still have submit an image, such as a screenshot of the design in a browser window.

tiny sig:
I likes it!

Judging would be on design only, if you wish to code anything, it will be totally excluded from competition: it will not get you any bonus points.
^Good point as to the experience and skill increasing value!
A Mt. Dew for you, sir!

Nice one, T_Lh!
(^new nickname. T-h-e_L-i-o-n-h-e-a-r-t-e-d is just too hard to type this morning )
Edit: What's the next theme, and when do we start?
-
Just making a screenshot. No coding is required.

I'll let this poll run for a week. If at that time, the votes in favor surpass votes against it, I'll prepare for the competition starting next month!

Dan, there is a way in which an alpha channel can be stored in a seperate file, also PS and Flash now support a 32-bit version with integrated alpha channel.
-
That is true, though, any contestants who would like to can make their submissions into a stylesheet.
-
Yes, well it would be an 'unofficial' skinning competition, all designs would be for fun.
-
Ok, this was inspired by a few posters who asked if PDN's look was changeable. Here's the idea:
Friendly competition adds fun, creativity, and challenge to a forum. Other forums often have multiple competitions of different sorts, the Sig-Of-The-Week has had good success on this one. So, how about a monthly skinning competition? It would be in addition to the SOTW.
We would start out with a Paint.NET skinning competition, then move to maybe skinning the forum, then the Google search page, Windows Media Player, etc.
I have already thought out how the rules should be, they would be similar to those in the SOTW.
Submission would start on the first day of the month, and end promptly three weeks from then. Then there would be a week of voting, and in the remaining few days, we would vote on the next thing to skin.
Comments? Questions? Please tell me your ideas!

Wow. Now that, I really like.
Now it's my turn to say: get it up on dA so I can fav. it!
I hope you get more time to be creative!

...I understand i can use the rotate and zoom...
Ehem, Down. <_<
I would take a look at the Oblique plugin. You might also want to peruse the Octagonal/Quad reshape/matte plugin too.

I like how from a distance, it looks like grass. ^_^

When does it hit stores?

I only use imageshack for screenshots and stuff I'll probably only post once. Then I have a photobucket account for sigs and cool stuff.
Same here.

Good idea, I second it.
Also, maybe alt-click/alt+ to hide all layers except the one selected?
-
Yes indeed! Try this: the Alpha Mask Import plugin
See my last post in this thread on how to use it.

Boltbait and pyrochild, what is the progress on your respective projects?
-
Hmmm.... I wonder.... *nudge nudge*

Take a look at this thread:

How did you do that sun in the first pic?
On a new layer, make a white, radial gradient (with the secondary color's alpha turned down to 0) where you would like the star/sun. Then apply Dents very slightly, and, finally, use Zoom Blur Deluxe. Adjust layer blend modes, maybe duplicate the layer to give a more intensive star. Voila!
Boy, I'm done with spacescapes... for now.
BOO the GIMP! j/k Very Happy I can't get used to any other program's UI after using PdN, they all seem so foreign.I know, it's a real pity, it has many wonderful tools and effects. Oh well...
...just wait until they're released with PDN!
Should there be an MSC (Monthly Skinning Competition)?

Time is always an issue...
As to starting one now, I think that just skinning the taskbar would be fairly small and not worth it.
