neodraig
Hello, I've just discovered paint.net and it's a really great software. Many years ago I used to draw with Deluxe Paint (on Amiga) and since I switched to PC, I never found a software that easy to use. Photoshop & Co are way too complicated to use and others like Paint are too basic. But with Paint.net everything is almost possible, only two things are missing. - fill an area with a pattern instead of a colour when you use the paint bucket - outline a shape with a selected colour I could easily do that with Deluxe Paint (in the early 90's) so why can't I do that with Paint.net. I found 2 plugins Photo Flood Fill and Outline Object, but it would be better to have those important features directly integrated in Paint.net. Or as I'm a newbie to Paint.net maybe I didn't look at the good menu. I saw a tile option in the rotate/zoom menu but I didn't manage to fill a whole area wihout gaps (I wanted to fill a wall with a brick pattern) So are those features planed in a future release of Paint.net or did I miss something? Thanx
Ash
If I understand you correctly, Paint.NET can do both. Post a pic of what you mean. Quote All creations Ash + Paint.NET [ Googlepage | deviantArt | Club PDN | PDN Fan ]
Curmudgeon
Sounds like you should try using BoltBait's Seamless Texture plugin to do the brick wall.
david.atwell
If they're already available in plugins, why are you complaining? Plugins are available to anyone with an internet connection. neodraig
I don't know how to post pictures, sorry. (need an url?) The two functions I ask for are two very basic features. I can do it with the plugins but it would be better if they were integrated in Paint.net. It would be great if you could just have the choice to fill an area with the image in the clipboard using the paintbucket tool instead of filling with a colour. For Photo Flood Fill I've got a problem as it makes white stripes between textures when I move them verticaly. And for Outline Object selecting a colour isn't very convenient (You have to type the colour you want, you can't just pick it). What I like with Paint.net is that it is really powerful because it is really easy to use, but those plugins don't have that ease of use that the main software has, that's all. A last thing, I don't have internet at home, so I don't have access to the documentation (why can't we get an offline version?) and I can't get plugins easily. (need an url?) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6270 And for Outline Object selecting a colour isn't very convenient (You have to type the colour you want, you can't just pick it). You can pick the color then use the plugin. Most plugins not only have the ease of use just as PDN, but adds more to PDN. Thumb drive, flash drive...or whatever you call em. Quote All creations Ash + Paint.NET [ Googlepage | deviantArt | Club PDN | PDN Fan ]
