Timjones
Would it be possible to create an Adjustment allowing the user to shrink/expand the selection? Here is a screenshot from Photoshop if you don't understand: Thanks for your time Timjones
Wither
Paint.NET already does this. will resize/move the pixels in the selection. will resize/move the selection. Leaving the pixels untouched. Unless you're asking for a box that resizes it for you... It doesn't do that. >_> (And I don't know how practical/possible it would be to implement) Quote YouTube | Myspace | deviantART
Timjones
I meant with an irregular shape, such as a letter.
Wither
Hmm... Your best bet is to get the selection with the Magic Wand or Lasso Tool and resize accordingly. Both are sort of likely to give iffy results though. >_> Quote YouTube | Myspace | deviantART
BoltBait
Starting with your original selection, the best way to do this is like this: 1. Add a new layer (and select it if necessary) 2. Press the backspace key. This will fill your selection with your primary color. 3. Press the ESC key to deselect. 4. Use Gaussian Blur. Set the blur amount the size you wish to expand your selection. 5. Use the magic wand tool and set the tolerance to 0. 6. Click in the transparent area of your new layer. 7. Press Ctrl-I to invert your selection. 8. Make your new layer invisible. Select your original layer and you should be all set! Timjones
Thanks, BoltBait, I thought there must be a way. You don't think this could be made into a plug-in do you? I have no idea how they work. =P I also "amazingly" found out that you can you the "Feather" blur set to shrink, and then use similar steps, but with a ahigh tolerance on the magic wand. Rick Brewster
There just isn't a way for plugins to modify the selection, unfortunately. Timjones
That's a shame, it appears quite a lot in Photoshop tutorials which could otherwise be easily adapted to Paint.Net. I suppose the blur trick will do, thanks anyway.
