MikeGale
I'm considering writing a PDN extension. An initial idea is to use the selection area as a input, then write to a wider area (whole canvas) based on what I find in selection. What is the best way to achieve this sort of thing in a PDN extension. (I expect to be using VS for the development rather than the lab.) midora
Sorry, but you can't do this. Plugins are not allowed/able to modify the area outside of the selection.
MikeGale
Thanks for that. Are either of these possible? Alter selection area from inside code? Bring up another window in which to make a selection?

pyrochild
Bring up another window in which to make a selection? Yes, you can extend your EffectConfigDialog to show a full copy of the canvas and implement any sort of tool you want, including selections. See my Liquify or Smudge plugins for an example. You'll still be limited to the current layer, though. Quote ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it! TechnoRobbo
BoltBait's Clipboard tutorial is a great work-around that can be employed for multiple layers and selection data. http://boltbait.com/pdn/codelab/help/tutorial4.asp Edited January 11, 2014 by TechnoRobbo Quote Go out there and be amazing.
